Can anyone tell me is this a lost cause or will I have to take it to windows store at mall after 3 days of searching for old receipt LOL I have a laptop, I am terrible with passwords. I forgot outlook password right after I bought it. It's brand new just can't log in.... I searched on internet found all these disk reset options I am seriously tech challenged any advice would be appreciated. Or a simple let me know if I have to take to microsoft store THANK YOU in advance. wow.. 40 bucks for a full year.. i remeber when it was 30.. they really kicking it to ya you should throw norton away and install avg free. It is free and gives you free definition updates and program updates. Avg is just as good as norton if not better. Give it a try. ok, so my old laptop wouldn't stop downloading and installing win 8.1 and it corrupts my system and renders the lapper useless. after trying for countless hours to make it stop this and spending somewhere around 35 hours online with microsoft tech's, i finally gave up and purchased a new one. (microsoft refused to replace the orginal laptop) now i have a year-&-a-half old, $600.00 paperweight. it runs win 8 and the techs keep telling me that it is not supposed to install 8.1 on it's own, but every time i revert back to 8, it takes about 4 days for it to install 8.1 again... This message is for kc0003 From what you have said it is not a paper weight. If you want it fixed I can fix it for you, you just need to let me know what operating system you want on it. Yes you will need to send it to me. If you want me to fix it it will cost $150.00 total. Just let me know and I will send you my email address so that I can send you my address because I am not going to put my address out here for every one to see. |

Has anyone gotten a PUP virus in their computer lately? I ran Malwarebytes and they found: 4 PUP.optional.mindspark.A. Has anyone ever gotten one, and if so, did putting it in quarantine remedy the situation. malwarebytes is a great spyware program and if you quarantine something you should not have to worry about it anymore. Do not format your computer over a pup. Read what JDoTProXy says: He explains what a pup is. "PUP's or (Potentially Unwanted Programs) usually consist of things like browser add-ons and toolbars... When installing programs 98% of programs, they will install additional software that do not provide any benefit, and tend to just slow down the OS overall... By choosing the option to "customize" the install during initial setup, the additional software can be avoided, however some PUP's are pretty tricky to thwart installation". |

if you are having trouble doing an upgrade try doing a clean install. You will need the full version disk and not the upgrade disk to do it with or it will not work.
