Where my christmas cheer has gone
Truth be told I don't know

Collecting dust along with our family photos
There's a chance it could be misplaced deep in my soul

It's trapped beneath the shadows of war
Shrinking with every newscast
Soon my christmas cheer will be nothing more
Than a shrivled dried up memory from my early days
Joyous festive songs drift overhead
Chilly winter air turns our cheeks cherry red
As little ones frolic in the icy wonderous atmosphere
They are totally oblivious to the nightmare abroad
The scene in front of me is more like a movie
Everyone has been assigned a role
A happy American caught up in the beauty and magic
Of new fallen snow
And bells clanging just outside a department store
Light-hearted christmas wishes are exchanged
Along with gifts wrapped in pretty little bows
Everything seems perfect
Christmas time is upon us once again
But while carols are being sung
Newlyweds snuggle by the fire
And babies celebrate their very first christmas
My thoughts will be in another world
With a man I so badly need
This year i've asked for nothing
Material trinkets that can be placed in a box
Have become worthless
All I want is to welcome him home
Where he belongs
Yes it seems my christmas cheer has suffocated
Choked to death by the shadows of war
Only to be revived by his strong loving embrace
