"The President...shall have Power to grant Reprieves and Pardons for Offences against the United States, except in Cases of Impeachment."
Article II, Section 2, Clause 1

Deal with it.

So far, it's been exactly as I expected for the both of them.

In fact, the only time we didn't see the normal Federal response to a disaster, was after Katrina.

Yep,thanks to the Democrat Local Authorities!
Everything was in place, but,as usual, they goofed!

According to the Republicans who were in charge at that time, you are exactly wrong.

The local authorities called for all sorts of help from the Feds, but the people who Bush put in charge of FEMA at that time, turned out to be more dedicated to avoiding spending money, than to addressing problems.

Pretend all you like that ONLY Democrats make mistakes, but the Republican leadership itself disagrees with you.
all the local authorities were Democrat!laugh

What is sad is that the area that Katrina hit has still not totally recovered..... So something failed there...

In the end I just hope that all of Texas gets rebuilt or cleaned up. But most of the clean up will be due to the People of the USA pitching in when they see others are in need. It is all about People Pulling Together When Others are In Need!

Yes Trump stepped in and declared what was needed and even pulled money out of his own pocket 1 Million at that have never seen another President that did that.. So people can say what they want to but this is one time Trump showed where he stands!

exactly!

Last I've heard, it still isn't known how these "attacks" are occurring, only that the damage is being seen. My first thought about it,was that it was the result of the Cuban government using horrendously awful spying equipment that causes damage rather than remaining covert. Perhaps a bit like setting up xray scanners at airports to detect weapons, but turning them up so high that they radioactively poison everyone who travels.

But we'll see. No mechanism has been found yet, so we're just guessing.

since when do X-Ray Machines emit Radioactivity?

Sounds like yet another story of a once idealistic organization falling under the control of corrupt schemers. That seems to happen a great deal in all facets of idealism, regardless of the particular bent of the organization. Right, left, Centrist, religious, you name it, this happens to all of them.

It's always seemed to me, that being surprised that an idealistic group with a lot of money has senior members who sneak money into their own pockets, is like being surprised to find that mice have chewed holes through the bottom of your cheese storage bin.

They are the Mice,nay,Rats!
There was never anything "Idealistic" about them!laugh

I read the story myself and even did a bit of research and low and behold found pictures where the basement of the church and lower parking garage was flooded...

Not only that the area of town does very well flood at times therefore makes roads impassable..The video of the Church being closed was like 2-3 days later.. Who did they think was going to open them doors up when most like they were at home dealing with problems as well..

They have in fact cleaned up the lower area that got flooded and decided the building was safe after all..

Come on why expect them to open the doors with standing water in the basement area...

Folks really do they not realize where most of the main electrical boxes are normally in the basements of buildings?

I also read where he did come back and say the doors would be opened in order to help house anyone they could.. But some have to remember the stadium holds 17,000 that is sitting down in chairs.. You can cut that in half when you come to having places to sleep that is after they move what they can out of the stadium..

To many pass judgement on another before they even know the whole story.. I will almost predict that in the end that particular Church will still be there helping those in the area.. When the rest of us goes along with our daily lives..

It's usually those who have never sat through a Major Hurricane who are crowing the loudest!bigsmile

the GOP voted against interests/infrastructure that may have minimalized the aftermath from this natural disaster

much like the dams not being properly upgraded before Katrina

politicians do play a part in the infrastructure decisions that play a part in how badly natural disasters impact their constituents

I understood what he meant, but it was bad timing and bad wording to make it sound as if anyone deserves tragedy,,,,

Dams couldn't be upgraded for Katrina, since the Bulkheads weren't driven deep enough, and the Material put on top got washed out at the bottom!
Houston is built on a Floodplain, and the more buildup, the less Drainage!
But,by all means, let's blame the Repubs for the lack of drainage!laugh slaphead

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) speaks about House matters during her weekly news conference on Capitol Hill, July 27, 2017 in Washington, DC. Commenting on Trump's transgender military ban, Pelosi said it was 'disgusting" to see members of the LGBT community "devalued for a hateful political agenda."
House Minority Leader Rep. Nancy Pelosi officially condemned violence from Antifa on Tuesday after months of attacks on Trump supporters and free speech protesters.

The statement from Pelosi was in response to the acts of violence over the weekend in Berkeley, which led to the arrests of 13 suspects connected to Antifa's violence.

"Our democracy has no room for inciting violence or endangering the public, no matter the ideology of those who commit such acts," Pelosi wrote. "The violent actions of people calling themselves antifa in Berkeley this weekend deserve unequivocal condemnation, and the perpetrators should be arrested and prosecuted."

This marks the first-time Pelosi has condemned Antifa and is quite possibly the first time she has acknowledged the group's existence. A keyword search of her website and her Twitter account revealed no other instances in which she used the word.

A spokesman for Pelosi told the Washington Times in an email late on Monday night that Pelosi "emphasizes" the importance of "peaceful" protests and demonstrations, while not mentioning Antifa and other leftist groups behind the violence.

Pelosi also reiterated the need for peaceful dissent and free speech in her press statement on Tuesday by saying hate must not be used to fight hate.

"In California, as across all of our great nation, we have deep reverence for the Constitutional right to peaceful dissent and free speech," Pelosi continued. "Non-violence is fundamental to that right. Let us use this sad event to reaffirm that we must never fight hate with hate, and to remember the values of peace, openness and justice that represent the best of America."

Comment: Not the first time Pelosi has changed her tune to match public opinion.
