Don't lower your exspectations. I would just maybe read up a bit on christian PRE marital counseling to get a heads up on what young couples go through and th echallenges. That way you have somthing REAL to work with and fortify your exspectations with while you look. It's an investment in the relationship you doin't have yet and it will clarify your boundaries and exspectations. You are at an 'idealistic' age but you should never LOWER your standards. Just put your best foot forward. you KNOW which pictures of you are most attractive, it's part of the game, But have fun with it. You can come up with arguments of shallowness but I think showing you care about yourself, your health, your appearence says alot. If you take it so seriously that your clinging then it will show. Chat around, take risks tali=king to chics that you think are "out of your league'. nEspecially here, the more you converse with women the more you find out about yourself and what you are looking for, keep your standards but you MAY find that what you are looking for is not as specific as you first thought.

Well, all I have to say is that the Bible always states marriage as a choice. you 'choose' your mate and to get married etc. But it all boils down to the daily walk, where God wants you to be, trusting Him with the unknown. I believe if that is where you are at and makibng the wise decisions as choices come then moment by moment decision by decision, prayer mixed with action, you will find your way and have the best outcome with good conscience. I pray he finally found peace and got the chance to be the child he missed out on. The man needed his rest from the wolves. It's almost a tragedy but he was a decent man with alot of talent.
