Okay... with ALL your comments in mind, I made some edits to my profile.

Better? Or have I resisted all your efforts to help? I know it's still lengthy... I'll trim it down once the content is "right".

Thanks all!

And ElaineSeekingJerry... thanks for the advice to keep the intelligence factor in. I've held back on that in the past only to get burned once I let my brain out of the closet! I think you're right that it should be a selling feature.

Looking for constructive criticism. I'm a writer so I can handle whatever you have to dish out.

Here's what I'm wondering about... do I sound to arrogant? Anything off-putting about my blurb?

Cheers and thanks in advance for your feedback!

I'm new, so forgive me if I'm missing the point of this forum. The point I've gathered is that you want to know what about your PROFILE is attracting the crazies... I sincerely doubt that it's something about YOU that is attracting the crazies -- well, with one exception. No matter the situation, there are things you can control and things completely outside your control.

First, the only thing about YOU that is attracting the crazy men is that you are a woman. It happens to us all honey. So that one is out of your control.

Your profile however -- since you asked... you do have control over and there are a couple of things that will draw crazies like flies to an open wound. You open with a statement about how sad it is that you are using this site to find a relationship. That screams "low self-esteem." This is apparently not true, so you might think about changing that.

Take a look at your blurb and find all the things that if a man said it you would react by saying "ew... no!" and use the delete button. Pretend you are your best friend and describe yourself the way he/she would do it.

Share what you bring to a relationship. For example... if you invited friends to a party, you wouldn't fill the invitation with a long list of what you DON'T want them to bring to the party... you would tell them what to bring. Right? "Wear a costume, bring a friend, bring a dish to share..." Your profile is an invitation. Share your hospitality... and since it is relatively anonymous, you can boot someone the minute they seem like they fit into your DO NOT WANT list without worrying about closing the blinds.

Well... it's no "War and Peace" but Tolstoy started with a blank page too, right?

Hello Fellow Iowans!

I'm in Iowa too. And like many of you I have moved away only to be pulled back. It's like the Earth trying to escape the Sun's gravitational pull... it's just unnatural.

Have you ever noticed that wherever you go, there always seems to be an Iowa connection?

Hey Guava girl -- I agree... RAGBRAI YES!!! This year will be my third (first one I only did 3 days, so maybe that means this year is #2.) And "Bob nest to the river..." We'll be in your town in about 2 1/2 months! Can't wait!!

How many of you think it's entirely appropriate that the Iowans are the first (and so far only) regional topic? So Iowa. :)
