Leap of Faith


I want to share the wind with you
to feel the angel's breath
as it carries us
to places unknown

I want to soar with you
through the clouds
and the stars
as we discover the beauty of love

If we could just fly
if we could just
step out onto life's edge
and take that leap of faith
I'm sure we would find
the perfect place
to settle down

Beautifully Confused

Breath
against my flesh
feels like every unspoken word
within
every stolen moment
emotions
haunting my soul
until I shiver

I want
and need
this
yet there is this fear
of having you discover me
a fear
of never wanting to know
tonight's ending

Breath
against my flesh
it is so hot
so gentle
I close my eyes
I see you
I feel you
I beg you
please

There is
a rush
from deep within
and I do not know what to do
should I
whisper I love you
or
should I
remain silent
and let this be who we are
I am
so beautifully
confused

This Old Guitar


I close my eyes
and begin to strum
each note I play
feels as if I'm searching for a rhythm
to call my own

I keep playing
this old guitar
with no destiny in mind
only the now
and my soul
plucking each string
until there's a meaning to this noise

Soon
a song comes
from the melodic melancholy
of my fingers
and this old guitar
not a cloud in sight either
just the sun
and music

It's not necessarily perfect
but it is a day
unlike most others
and for that
I sing
as I keep playing
this old guitar

Night Waves


My soul
tonight
can feel
the angel's gentle sigh
as the poetic silhouette
of clouds
intermingling
with the moon's absolute light
opens my heart
to the true meaning of letting go

There is a peaceful beauty
in the ocean's quiet noise
as it races upon the shore
to drown
my thoughts
within the never ending rhythm
of the night's waves

My footprints
have disappeared
washed away into a nothingness
that will never again be
so there is no reason to look back
and besides
I know where I've been
my past will always be a part of me
I will always remember
the good
and the bad
but it is the tomorrow
never promised me
that I now yearn for
to see the rise
of morning's absolute light
to open my heart
to the true meaning of beginning anew

I saw her
across the street
so far away
yet so very close

My feet
would not move
and my voice had abandoned me
so all I could do
was watch her
walk away

Panic stricken
I imagined every possible
possibility
from me some how
catching up to her
to me
never seeing her again
and everything between

Come on legs
move
give chase
mouth, come on
say something
don't let her get away

Yet there she went
one step
after another until she was too far away
it was as if
she were saying goodbye
for forever as my hopes faded
into the reality
that I am so very shy

I Lied

The first
held my soul's pain
as the next one
held
your reflection

Tempted
to speak
to ask why
because I need to know
but there are no words
only the rain

It hurts
more than I could have ever imagined
though I'm unsure
of which part
hurts the most

The broken promise
tomorrow's difference
or tonight
when I am alone
thinking
remembering
wanting
to feel you still next to me

I wipe my eyes
telling myself
that by doing so
I wipe away
the pain
and like you
I lied
because it doesn't stop
the rain keeps falling
until all that I am
is a puddle of confusion
and it hurts
more than I could ever have ever imagined

Clock on the Wall

The unnecessary toil
of its hands
over and over
and over
as if searching for something new
while leaving
our love
to fight tonight
more time

I want to ask
why not
i's not as if its hands
have not been where they are heading to
once again
so why not
why not just stop
just this one time
so that tonight will last for forever

But it's just there
on the wall
me watching it
and it
seemingly
watching me

The sound
of tick tock
tick tock
repeatedly
over and over
and over again
with its unnecessary toil
tick tock
tick tock
and no matter how hard we try
there is never enough time
for you and I

My Last Words

It wasn't a choice
I never searched for
or wanted death
but my thoughts led me to believe
there would be no more pain
with my last breath
because I cried in the shadows
as there was no light in my life
I just lived in the colors of nothing
thinking alone
how to end this fight
tick tock
tick tock
time would never stop
nor would the things that I felt
doubts
pain
sadness
each one urging me to tighten the belt
you see it really wasn't a choice
it was their voice
they explained
how to ease the pain
and I listened
and for the first time I smiled
I saw colors
beautiful colors
and then I closed my eyes

Stopped

Traveling along
the highway
at what I thought
was the right speed
when I was suddenly stopped
in the middle of
us

No lights
no siren
no officer or warning
no one
but the someone
you used to replace
us

Licensed
to be with you
so why am I
like a deer caught in headlights
never thinking
it would be
us

Shaking nervously
as my fears
race my tears
to the end of the lonely road
because there is
no longer
us

One day
maybe with the help
of time's GPS
it won’t hurt as much
though my life's journey
will still be missing
us

I wish
I could grasp the wind
and place it
deep within your lungs
so that your last breath

But the wind
was but a sigh
time

of nature's sigh
