It has never been my intentions
to have
small insignificant moments
not worth
the effort of memories

Nor have I ever planned
for love
to somehow become loss
within time's never ending fight
between
sunshine
and darkness

I never want
your soul
to feel as if it were a rocky shore
battered
by unforgiving waves
of my imperfections
but please know
I am imperfect

And though I hate it
I understand
that arguing
sometimes is a part of true love
so if the words you have to say
means that we are making an effort
to communicate
then I'll take your words to heart
in hopes that my listening
will take away your pain

A hauntingly sojourn
of midnight clouds
traversed through the moon's shimmering essence
fluidly ravaging its light
with a slow
and intentional shadow
that created an abstract sky
of darkness
and then light
and then darkness
once again

The world feels different now
changed
from the time when the sun’s light
reflected within the souls of the dreamer
now
there is uneasiness
a silence
made louder by the heaviness of the heart's beat
the deafening roar
that follows the flash the courses through the veins
of those who have lived through the worst of life
they know
that it will rain again
when
or for how long
is unknown
but it will rain again
and then it will pass

The Lonely Heart

I hate
the rain
the clouds
and the wind

I hate
feeling
the way I do
when the storm comes

Sometimes
I just want to run and hide
find solace
in a memory
like on warm sunny day
when you and I
held hands
and laughed

But I hate this
today
now
these feelings
and the rain
as it pours its gloom over my soul
as I cry
I hate
the clouds
and the wind too

The Recipe

Got troubles?
so does most of the world
I have 'em
quite a few
at times
but I got remedy
or shall I say
a recipe

At sunset
on a Saturday
turn off the lights
get a rocks glass
add one rock (your choice if you want one more)
and slowly pour
three ounces
which is a double
let it sit
then sip
and think about your troubles
then repeat

Usually
after the second
the sun
has eased into the night
taking with it
the bothers of the day
and all that's left to do
is absolutely
nothing (don't you just love a good bourbon)

Darkness
beckons
as the layers
and layers
of whispers and secrets
paint the sky
a nuance of fading hues
so entwined with the human soul
that life
for this moment
is perfect

There is a quiet
amongst the intricate personalities
standing on the pier
as each awaits
the first shimmering homage
to time's calloused hands
to appear

The gentle wind
and dancing waves
filled with the sky's delicate allure
seemingly hold thoughts hostage
as the gazing eye perceive dusk
as a chance to relax
a moment to fall in love
or a time to let go
and in the midst
of this transition
between two very different worlds
darkness
beckons
the lights of the heavens
to shine upon the basking souls

The world
spins
then
somehow stops
when
I'm with you
confusing

Complicated euphoria

I breathe
the gentle
breeze
yet you
take my breath
away
and I like this
feeling
of being alive

It's dark
the sun found a home within midnight

there is so much light
that I can see
all that the world
has to offer

I could never imagine
how cold
life could be without the sun's warmth
to hold me
when love beautiful
was something new

Now the air
that once
filled my soul
has faded into an ungentle breeze
as the wind
searches for something new

yet aloud
as thunderous memories scream
to the steady rhythm
of my rain
my heart wants to ask
if I
was once
something new

In the Mirror

I close my eyes
believing then that it would not hurt
but tonight
feels the same as every other night
when a stranger takes you
then leaves you
a little less
than who you know you are

I close my eyes
and dream
as he lives out his fantasy with my soul
I wear a false smile
and choose words
to make him feel superior
maybe a moan
or a plea to pleasure me
yet this is not who I am

I close my eyes
and wait
soon he will be gone
and yet
he will remain within me
as my thoughts carry the weight
of my life
sadly the money
right now
is worth this unfortunate choice

Tomorrow
is my only escape
yet my eyes are closed
so I cannot see
the path
meant for me
