Middlescence is a second adolescence occurring in the middle of our lives. It's a transition period similar to adolescence. Not necessarily a crisis, it is a time to break away from traditional adulthood the way teenagers break away from childhood. At our age it is normal to have periods of anxiety and to reevaluate everything. Recall the words of Janis Joplin, "Freedom's just another word for nothing left to lose." Experiment with your freedom.
