I would like to offer this as a contribution:
"So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets." Matthew 7:12 If you think of it, when everyone of us is "nailing" the code of conduct outlined by Golden Rule in our interactions, it pretty much guarantees that people are happy. To me beauty and power of that Golden Rule is that every human in their right mind understands the concept, no matter religion, culture or level of education. For us Christians I would suggest that the weight of the Word of God can be understood in through reading of John 1:1 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." and John 1:14 "The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth." Golden Rule in Matthew 7:12 is spoken by Jesus. Considering what is outlined in John 1:1 and John 1:14, if we don't believe that the Golden Rule and all the good fruits and gifts our behaviour compliant to it yields, is will of God for us, then what else is left of that faith of ours? |
