My views on the matter

I am 50/50 when it comes to this and have used this a few times but i will elaberate on the subject.

If i come across a potential match but her profile is empty then generally i will ask her for a chat and compliment her and if the first message works then generally i will pop in the line. So tell me a little about yourself such as your interests, likes & dislikes. I only use this if the profile is empty it's only natural to ask if they couldn't of been bothered to fill out their profile. Sometimes some potential matches reply with the words "if their is anything you want to know about me ask me" that irks me greatly when they say this as i already asked them to tell me about their interests why would i repeat the question again lol.

I always keep my profile with at least some information about me so a potential match can see if i am the type for them and if they send me the so tell me line i always get the feeling they didn't bother reading my profile at all.

Yes this does work both ways and can be infuriating when people ask me the question and can be the same when you have to resort to this or a similar question to get to know a person. Of course you shouldn't tell someone everything about yourself on the first message as their would be nothing left to talk about on the date if one happened so i do understand from that point of view. I have come across this discussion on many dating sites it seems and it sounds like a taboo line to use or mention in the dating world. :P

When ever i ask a potential match what's your interests, music, movie tastes you get the idea and then they reply with.

"if there is anything you want to know about me ask me"

Errrrmmm FFS i just already asked you to tell me about your interests i'm not repeating myself :P

Excuse me if this has been posted before or it's in the wrong part of the forum feel free to move it.

I am sure i am not the only one that hates the dreaded words "So tell me a little about yourself" i would love to hear from you lot what are your views on it, is it a negative thing, does it make it look like people put little or not effort in writing to a potential match you get the idea.

VIEWS!!! on the subject :)
