It's not only in poor taste but extremely irresponsible. What's even worse is he did it in front of 6,000 gun rights activists.

I agree with that point. Besides, it is illegal to threaten any federal employee, and Obama is a senator. Perhaps the solution is for you guys to demand his arrest and prosecution under the federal law that delineates that as being illegal. But, that would not further your political aims, would it. Better in this political climate to just "bash" him and not risk any solid consequences. Just the way the liberals work

Just the way Republicans work, protect your own, even when they make stupid, irresponsible jokes! What would a Republican have done if a Democrat made such a statement! That just goes to show how hateful the Religious Right has become. 'Love your enemies' indeed! Well, let's hope John McCain is preparing a statement.
