How can you tell if someone is really serious or just trying to play collect collect girl or boy friends? I'm about to give up and join a convent!

hah that's the sucky part. You can usually only tell ex post facto. The only thing that comes to mind to help you would be sodium thiopental.

date them, and show up like you would look after you just got out of bed after ten years of marriage, with the same attitude. That will definitely show whether they are serious or not.
