Poor Pat Buchanan...Jesse's right though, this Gay marriage thing is something that Government really has no business meddling in.

The extent the government should be involved is to guarentee that every citizen of this country has the right to marry who they want to as long as they are consenting adults. If religion stayed out of the government there would not be this issue.

Ah, but it is not that simple.

Ever see the movie Chuck and Larry? Yes, it is a comedy, but the possibility of it are very real and possible. Think about it.

Two bachelor guys 'marrying' one another and recognized by the government as being so. They get government benefits, healthcare benefits, and so on. There will be a heavy scamming of the citizen and the federal government will have to create an organization to make sure two people are really married for the real reason of love.

If I could get government tax benefits and so on, as well as healthcare coverage off my 'mate' because we were married sign me up!

Insurance is paid for by one or more of the partners, this kind of scam you speak of is not gender specific, if what you say would be true, which it is not, we would have to obliterate marriage all together as anyone can do it.

Yes, but come on, who is more likely are to have very close friendships that they've had for years? Same sex people. Who most often live together in an apartment or house because they can't afford a home of their own? Same sex people. Who is much less likely to pull a scam because they just want benefits and are not in love? Opposite sex people.

And, what I say is not true because you say so? Okay miss know it all, how dare I have an opposing opinion and take.

Wow, but then again, you would have to get 2 straight men to go out in public and put on a convincing enough act to show that they are in fact gay men, no offense, but I'd like to see that, because it would be every bit as funny as Chuck and Larry.
When a 25 year old woman marries an 86 year old billionaire, does the Government intervene in that? The Anna Nicole civil suit tied up courtrooms and all the trappings that come along with it, in 2 states. Does this waste mean the Government has to write up laws now, demanding that Golddiggers hunt within their own generational segment of the population?
What you're talking about would in fact be a tiny little percentage of the overall population that would want to marry a member of the same sex, my question is when are we going to stop shifting prejudice from one group of our citizens to another?

That is not true, do you know any gay people? The gay men I have known own homes and are monogomous for years. They have the same issues hetero couples have but as it stands now they cannot get the same recognition when it comes to making health decisions for their spouse or they are not recognized in court as a spouse so in cases of death they lose all they worked for together to the family of their spouse which is not right.

All they need is a will and if anyone sets up an enduring Power of Attorney it will allow another person to act for you, make decisions in your interest and manage your assets.
You dont have to be married for this.
