Mt. 11, 25 - 30
25
At that time Jesus said in reply, "I give praise to you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, for although you have hidden these things from the wise and the learned you have revealed them to the childlike.
26
Yes, Father, such has been your gracious will.
27
All things have been handed over to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son wishes to reveal him.
28
"Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest.
29
Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart; and you will find rest for your selves.
30
For my yoke is easy, and my burden light."

explaining the delusion...

What delusion are you talking about?

At that time Jesus said in reply, "I give praise to you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, for although you have hidden these things from the wise and the learned you have revealed them to the childlike.

Why would God hide things from wise and learned men?

What does God have against education and wisdom?

Should we refrain from sending our children to school?

Should we refrain from teaching our children to be wise?

Does God prefer people who are foolish? (i.e. unwise)

For my yoke is easy, and my burden light.

Why then do so many Christian complain that it's difficult to be a Christian?

Doesn't that fly in the face of Jesus' own words?

It is difficult when we must bite our tongues when asked to defend misapprehensions and excuses and the incessant demand for moral equivalence from so many that want nothing to do with prudence, humilitiy and meekness among them without seeking to take advantage of those virtues with mailgnant impunity.

There are other exaMPLES OF THE DIFFICULTIES, BUT THEY ARE ALSO THE VERY DIFFICULTIES THAT MOST NEVER WALK IN , IN THE FIRST PLACE.

oops, caplock key. not being emphatic, intentionally.

back to this...

we know the difficulties, but others know only of them by virtue of not pressing them, personally, to their own hurt.

There is always a cost associated with truth;

It is called " the risk of predation."blushing

peace.

My good friend. You are being just like those christian fundamentalists who read the Bible verbatim. You fail right in the same spot you so harshly criticize. Interpret, don't read as if you were reading a physics formula.

Jesus said what he said because he was referring to pharisees and scribes the most educated people in the Jew community of those days. They were very good in the Law and the Torah, yet they did not practice what they knew so good.
As I've always said the Word of God updates itself everyday.
When I read the Bible after I understand the original context I always ask myself: "what does Jesus wants to tell me today, and how should i live it today?"

This specific passage tells me that the more I learn, because God wants me to learn to grow as a human being, knowledge is a virtue, but a bigger virtue is humility.
Therefore, the more I know the more I should be humble, and share whatever I know with others.

Don't become what you hate dear James.flowerforyou

Sure you can take it that way, and I'll be the first to agree that your interpretation here is precisely what Jesus most likely meant.

The only problem is that its flawed words then. The Pharisees are not wise, because they don't practice what they preach.

Don't become what you hate dear James

I see nothing wrong with following the teachings of Jesus. But to support "Christianity" is to support the Pharisees of today. Can you not see this?

Christianity does not support Jesus. Christianity is a grossly distorted religion that uses Jesus Christ as an excuse to spread bigotry and hatred.

Christianity is not Jesus, and Jesus is not God. The religion made Jesus into a God.

What you seem to be totally missing is that when you support the entire biblical picture as put forth by the religion, then you are supporting bigotry, hatred, and religious intolerance.

I know that you are instantly going to try to throw that in my face claiming that I'm being religiously intolerant. But that's not true.

I'm not the one who is trying to tell you that if you don't believe in my religion you are rejecting God! That's is religious intolerance Miguel. Christianity itself is religious intolerance. It refuses to tolerate any religion that doesn't worship Jesus Christ as the King of King and the Lord or Lords, and included with that it automatically follows that a person much also accept that the entire bigoted bible is the word of God.

It's far from being about Jesus. It's about spreading hatred, bigotry and religious intolerance. When you support Christianity you support all of that. You totally undermine anything good that might have come from Jesus.

To support the hypocritical beast of Christianity as an organized religion is to become like the Pharisees. flowerforyou

You just see what you want to see or what the media shows you.
I would love to invite you to my country with everything paid. I would love to show you the other face of christianity.
Not to convert you because that would be like trying to grow potatoes in the sea.
However, I'd like to give you a more global vision, and not just the american experience.
I'm not going to say that you are wrong, but what I'm going to tell you is that I love christianity with all my heart. However, I don't think I'm a pharisee.
That's all I have to say it seems the only agreement you and me can have ever is that we agree to disagree. I'm done for today.flowerforyou

one more thing, my dear James. from the very beginning we always are going to disagree.
I am absolutely convinced that Jesus is God, you are absolutely convinced He is not.
From thereon any dialogue between you and me about religion is moot.
So let's talk about physics I have so much to learn, I will need help.happy happy

Romans 10:9 That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

Yeah, the Jesus is Lord thing is kind of basic to the whole Christian world view, eh?

Miguel, that would not be the face of Christianity that you would be showing James, that would be the warmth and love of a people renowned for its hospitality and generosity.

It has nothing to do with Christian ideals. If it did, then the Arabs would all be Christian. They are also known for their warmth of spirit.

Belief in Jesus/God/Allah/Buddha/Jehovah etc does not guarantee a warm heart.

Im not going to list some of the greatest mass-murderers in history, as you know of most of them, but they killed in the name of their god.

Mass murderers killing in the name of God? Now THAT's a delusion! You gotta remember that Satan is the father of lies and he'll do all he can to foster evil at all times. If that means deluding people, than so be it.

God, on the other hand, leads people to truth. You'll know the truth and the truth will make you free, you see.

At any rate, don't think of it as deluded, think of it as slightly confused.laugh

Really? Do I have to cite biblical examples?
Are you really that deluded that using your own book of the dead, you still refuse to see what a murderous being a true beliver of the christian faith is?

You gotta remember that Satan is the father of lies and he'll do all he can to foster evil at all times. If that means deluding people, than so be it.

Ahh ... so you blame someone created by your god for all the bad things, not taking responsibility yourself?
Hmm ... "passing the buck" is what we in the UK call this

God, on the other hand, leads people to truth. You'll know the truth and the truth will make you free, you see.

Cobblers!!! As Col. Nathan Jessup said in A Few Good Men ... "The truth? You couldnt handle the truth"

You would be lost with out a structured belief system to use as an emotional crutch.
Its convenient for you to blame all the crap in the world on the devil and the good stuff on god ...

Hey, it was sergeants like me that wrote them lines for Jessup. No. It's not an emotional crutch. It's what the creator of the universe has taught me. He's got an open offer of assistance and forgiveness for anyone willing to turn towards his way (repent), believe he died for us and was ressurrected and ask his forgiveness. Are you game?

when i said what i said. I was not saying to give James a Tour to see how families or people behave towards visitors or tourists.
I was referring to show him the christian ground workers. Those who does not have time argue over semantics, but to take care of those who have been forgotten by society, such as leppers.
Some may argue that a person does not need to be a christian to be humanitarian and help this people. That is true, but it's also very easy to send 20 dollars a month to a charity and keep the mind at ease.
I only know so far one non-christians who put herself in the line of fire, just for her love to humanity disregarding her own safety. And that is my dear and loved Alex.
She has secured a place in heaven which many so called "christians" will be begging to have it.
