The Fairy Who Came To Visit

The party was going on next door and poor Hannah was hoping she could have been invited. She was upset, hearing the kids next door having fun, playing games and eating birthday cake.
She was so upset, she went to her room and started pouting. She slung her back against the wall and slid down it, to the floor, with her knees folded and here arms folded across her knees, as she began to weep. Through her muffled sounds of sniffling, she heard a little tinkling sound. She looked up and saw a little glowing speck come through her open window.
"Owww." Said the speck, as it bumped into the window sill. It was so tiny of a voice, only Hannah could hear it. "Ooompph." The speck bumped into the dresser, as it was getting closer to Hannah. The speck got a little more closer, landing on Hannah's crossed arms in front of her. Hannah's eyes widened, looking real hard and seeing it was a little fairy.
The fairy was shaking her head from all the bumps she made on her little travel to Hannah's arms. Hannah looked and grinned, because she loved fairies, but never thought she would actually see one. "Hi there." Hannah said, with a little softness.
With that, the fairy was startled and tumbled down Hannah's legs, all the was down to her feet, grabbing hold of a shoestring. "Don't do that again...geeze." As the little fairy shook the cobwebs out of her head again.
"Who are you?" Hannah asked the little fairy, as she put her hand down to offer her a lift up.
"My name is Teek...short for Teekabell. No relation of course to that other fairy." As Teek dusted herself off and tried to make herself look presentable.
"Hi Teek, my name is Hannah. Are you ok?" As Hannah was concerned with Teek's flying abilities.
"Yeah, why you ask?" As Teek shook her wings as fairy dust started to sprinkle about.
"Oh, by the way you were flying in here. You were bumping all over the place." As Hannah said with a giggle.
"You noticed that huh? Well, I'm not your average type of fairy that can fly all that well. I flew the coop that day when they were teaching how to steer these wings I have." As Teek flapped her wings and more fairy dust tinkled about. "You see, I'm one of those that have been shunned and laughed at because of the way I fly. So I flew away."
"I wish I had wings so I can fly away." Hannah held her head down as she said that.
"Why, they only get in the way. Where would you go anyways?"
"I don't know, I would just fly away. Wherever I end up, that's where I would stay." Hannah was looking at Teek, as she held her in her hand. She took Teek to the dresser, where she let Teek sit on top of the music box.
"You still didn't answer my question. Why would you want to fly away?" Teek was sitting atop of the music box with her legs crossed.
"I don't have any friends. Nobody wants to play with me or invite me to parties. So I feel all alone." As Hannah explained to Teek.
"Well Hannah, what about your mother? She loves you, don't forget about that." Teek pointed out.
"But mama is a grown up. She doesn't play like all the other kids do." As Hannah was telling Teek about mama, Teek had her chin in her hand, listening contently. "We do have a date night, my mama and I. We watch movies and eat pizza together."
"Pizza? What's pizza?" Teek was curious.
"It's like a hot pie, with tomato sauce, pepperoni, cheese and all kinds of things on it. I like mine with just cheese. Mama is going to make some for lunch in a little bit. If you hang around, I will let you try it." Hannah insisted Teek to stay.
"Really? Nobody was nice to me like this?" As Teek stood up on top of the music box.
"Why not? You are a pretty little fairy. Why wouldn't anybody be nice to you?" Hannah asked with concern.
"Shhhh....I have a secret. I have what they call ADHD."
"SO DO I." Hannah said with a surprise, which startled Teek off of the music box, causing her to land on her rump.
"It gets me agitated now and then." Teek looked at her with an agitated look straightening up her wings.
"Me too." Hannah said with a smile. " I didn't think I would see a fairy with it."
"Well, we all our faults. Maybe that is why we don't have friends." Teek said, as she climbed back up on top of the music box. "You're not going to get excited again are you?"
"I don't know, why?" Hannah asked her new found friend.
"I don't want to fall off of this thing again."
"Oh, I'm sorry. I was just excited I have a friend now that is like me."
"Well I can be your friend as long as you want me to be. I also can tell you, with me being your friend, I can give you three useful wishes. You know, the whole fairy thing and all that. But you have to be careful of what you wish for, because if you wish for the wrong things, I disappear." As Teek pulled out a little piece of paper from her wing, explaining the rules of the wishes.
"Oh my. How will I know if it's the wrong wish?" Hannah asked her. "Well, you can't wish for something that is impossible. But then again, nothing is impossible, if you achieve it. Also nothing is possible, if it can't be done. Follow me?" As Teek explained a little further.
"I think so." Hannah had a finger up to her chin thinking.
"You can't wish for any friends. That is a no-no. I will surely disappear if you do that."
"Who needs friends as long as I have you as my friend?" Hannah rested her arms up on the dresser, so she could be eye to eye with Teek.
"You can't wish for riches either. Because you can find that in your heart. Whoever came up with that rule wasn't thinking, I don't think." Teek look about, as confused as Hannah did with that rule.
"So what can I wish for Teek?"
"Anything. Except what I just went over." As she folds the paper and puts it back in her wing.
"I think I will wait on the wishes. The longer I wait, the longer I have you as a friend."
"Wait. There's a clause on that too." As she pulls out the paper once again, to look at the fine print. "Yes, here it is. You have eight hours between each wish. That sums it up to three wishes in twenty four hours."
"Oh my. That means I have eight hours to make my first wish huh? Well then, I have eight hours with you as a friend right now. It smells like mama has the pizza in the oven." As she raises her nose in the air, to smell the wonderful odor of food cooking. Teek does the same thing, as she copies Hannah.
"Mmm that smells good."
"Here, let me put in my pocket, so we can go see how the pizza is coming along." As Hannah reaches out for Teek to jump in her hand.
"I'm not going to stay in there long mind you. I don't like closed in spaces." Teek was letting her know about her little problem.
"Shhh...mama might hear you." As she closes her pocket when she gets closer to the kitchen.
There, mama was straightening up the dishes and checking on the pizza. "Hi bug, how are you sweetie?"
Hannah heard a little muffle sound come from her pocket. She opened it up just a little and Teek was looking up at her, "Was she talking to me? I'm not a bug, I'm a fairy."
"No, she was talking to me. That is my nickname sometimes." Hannah was caught talking to her pocket.
"Who are you talking to honey?" Mama asked curiously.
"My fairy friend. She came to me today and we became friends."
"Ahhh...she wouldn't happen to like pizza would she?" Mama asked.
"She never heard of it before. But she is willing to try." Hannah sat at the table.
"Well it's almost ready. Are you going to introduce me to her?" Mama tried to peek near her pocket.
"Maybe. Let me ask her if she wants to come out." As Hannah looked in her pocket, and there was Teek, with her arms crossed with a stern look.
"When are you going to let me out of here?" With an agitated voice, Teek was getting more and more fidgety being inside her pocket.
"Mama wants to meet you." Hannah opened her pocket.
As Teek flies out clumsily out of the pocket landing on the kitchen table hitting a salt shaker. "She won't be able to see me. Only you can." As she rubs her head.
"She said you can't see her mama. Only I can."
"I thought so. Well she is invited to eat pizza if she wants to try." Mama was being polite and playing along.
As mama went over to the oven to check on the pizza. It was ready to come out, as mama reached for a pot holder to grab the pan and sit it on top of the stove. "It's ready. One slice or two sweetie?" Mama asked Hannah.
"Uh three please."
"Oh yeah, I forgot. You're my growing little girl. And one piece for your fairy friend too."
"She gave me three wishes too mama. I have to make each wish within eight hours of each other or I will lose my wishes and Teek as my friend." Hannah told her mama.
"So that's her name. Teek. Very nice. So have you thought about your wishes?"
"I'm still thinking." As Hannah takes a bite of her piece of pizza and putting a piece in front of Teek to try.
Mama looks on in amazement, when she sees the cheese get stretched and nothing is there. "Oh my, so you do have a friend."
"I told you. I think I know now what I want my first wish to be. Can I take my pizza to my room mama?" As Hannah grabs her plate with Teek on board.
"Sure honey, just bring it back when you are through."
"Yes ma'am." As she says with a muffle mouthful of pizza.
"This stuff is pretty good." Teek told Hannah, licking her fingers as she had all she can eat. After all, a fairy's stomach is only so big.
"I think I know what I want as my first wish." Hannah grabbed the napkin she brought up with her to wipe her hands and mouth off.
"Ok, what is your wish?" As Teek stands up, ready to grant her wish.
"I wish...." As she thinks out loud, "I wish for you to be able to fly straight and normal, like the other fairies do." Hannah looks at Teek with a question whether she could fulfill that wish or not.
"That is a selfless act and it will be granted. When, I have no idea. We'll just have to wait and see." Teek assures her. "You got another wish?"
"Give me a little while. I don't want to wish you away. You're the only friend I have."

The Second Wish

Hannah took the plate back to her mama and said, "Thank you mama. That was good. Teek and I are going to be in my room."
"Okay dear, ya'll have fun." Mama wipes hands with the dish towel as she puts the plate in the sink.
Hannah is lying on the floor on her stomach paging through a coloring book, as Teek sits on top of her shoulder. Looking down on the coloring book, Teek asks her, "What is that you're doing?"
"It's called coloring. I have these crayons I use to color these pages to make them look brighter and prettier." As she takes a crayon in her hand and starts to color a picture of a fairy.
"Hey, that looks like me. Sort of." Said Teek, as she looked down at the picture Hannah was about to color.
"I love fairies. I believe in them." As she colors neatly inside the lines.
"Well, as long as you believe my dear friend, you will always see us. Not only me, but others as well." Teek assured her.
"The kids make fun of me because I believe in fairies."
"Don't pay attention to those meanies. In their hearts, they don't believe what they can't see. If you believe in your heart for what you believe in, nobody can take that away from you." Teek explains to her.
"Is that why mama can't see you?" Hannah asked.
"Your mother can't see me, because she is an adult. Adults don't believe in us, because they feel they have outgrown the theory that we exist. But if she believed in her heart, that we do exist, and she has to believe, then she could see me too."
"Well, what if I ask her?" Hannah was curious.
"You can try. But it won't work." Teek was assuring her that her mother wouldn't see her.
So they go to the kitchen, where mama was finishing up cleaning and putting things away for the afternoon. "Mama, I have a question for you."
"What is it bug?"
"Huh...she talking about me again?" Teek stood up on Hannah's shoulder.
"No. Shhh...," As she reminded Teek of her nickname. "Mama, if you believed in fairies, would you admit it?" Hannah asked curiously.
"What honey?" Mama was caught off guard.
"What I mean is, do you believe in fairies?"
"I don't know sweetie, I've never seen one."
"I guess it's because you don't believe in them." Hannah looked down to the floor scuffling her feet.
"What makes you think that?"
"If you believed them, you would see Teek. You have to believe in your heart that they exist." Hannah explained.
"So if I believed that they existed, I would see Teek?" Mama asked, thinking about it. "Well sweetheart, if you believe in them with your heart, then I guess I do too."
"Well you gotta say it." Hannah looked at her mama with her gleaming eyes.
"I really believe fairies do exist." Mama cupped Hannah's chin with her hand. With that, Teek starts to become visible to her. "Oh my, so that is Teek."
"You see her?" Hannah's face became one big smile.
"Why yes I do. She is cute." Mama leans down and looks on Hannah's shoulder, admiring Teek.
"Cute. Hmmpfff. Just cute?" Teek was crossing her arms with a pouty look.
"Well hi there Teek." As mama introduced herself. "Was this your second wish sweetie?"
"No ma'am. I still have hours before I have my second wish."
"Hours, oh my speaking of hours, you only have four more hours before your second wish." Teek reminded her. "You better think quick."
"Okay mama, we're going to my room now, so I can think of my second wish." As they wisk away to her room.
"Make it a good one bug." Mama wished upon her.
"There's that bug thing again. What do I look like, a mosquito?" Teek smarting off.
"Be quiet...I've got to think. I have to make a wish, of something that's not impossible, but something that is possible, no riches, no friends. Ah ha. I have it." Hannah snapped her fingers.
"Great. What is it?" Teek was standing ready on Hannah's shoulder, as she flapped her wings and started to fly. She flew straight to the dresser, right to the music box and didn't bump into a thing.
"Hey, my first wish came true. YOU flew straight and not clumsy like." Hannah was clapping.
"Hey, I guess it did." Teek flapped her wings and looked behind herself to watch them. "Ok, now about your second wish."
"Since I can't wish for friends, I can wish for somebody for my mama. So I wish, my mama to have a man friend, that will love her and treat her with love and understanding." As Hannah finalizes her wish.
"Another selfless act on yourself." Teek told Hannah. She took some fairy dust out from behind her wings and shook it all through the air and said, "When and where, let it be fair, someday soon I stand, as Hannah's mama will get her a man." Shaking the fairy dust off her hands. "The wish will come true one day soon and she will be the happiest woman around."
"Thank you Teek. I've always wanted a real father. Maybe he will believe in fairies too." Hannah said with a smile as she looks off dreamily.
"He does." As Teek sits down on the music box.
"Do what?" Hannah asked.
"Oh nothing...nothing at all."

The Third Wish

Hannah and Teek, were in the living room watching television, when a dogfood commercial came on. When Teek tapped Hannah on the shoulder, she reminded Hannah, she had only two hours left before her last wish was to be made. She was sitting on top of Hannah's shoulder watching the television, when Hannah got excited all of a sudden, spooking Teek off her shoulder, "THAT'S IT!!!" She exclaimed loudly.
Teek fell almost all the way to the floor, when her new found balance kept her from hitting the floor. "Whew, thank you for you first wish. If it hadn't of been for that, I would have that floor hard." She said, as she flew back up to Hannah's shoulder. "Now, what is IT?" She asked in response to her excitement.
"My third wish. I want one of those." Pointing to the screen of the tv.
"What is that?" Teek asked her.
"It's a puppy. That's what my third wish is to be. I want a fluffy puppy." Hannah stood up, dancing around.
"What's all the excitement about?" Mama comes in the living room, seeing Hannah all excited.
"I know what I want my third wish to be." As she is happily singing. "Mama, I want a puppy. A white fluffy puppy." Dancing around, clapping her hands. Teek was flapping her little wings as fast they could go, because with all of Hannah's excitement, she couldn't sit on her shoulder. Mama held her hand out for Teek to sit on, while Hannah was doing her little happy dance.
"Well Teek, what do you think?" Mama looked at Teek, asking for her opinion.
"I've been around one of them critters, not knowing what they were, and I felt like I've been kicked all the way across teh country. The thing must have thought I was a flea or something."
Hannah just giggled at that thought. "That is my final decision. That's what I want my third wish to be Teek. I wish for a puppy." She stood still long enough to look Teek straight in the eye, while mama was holding her in her hand.
"Are you sure you want one of those nasty hairy things?" Teek asked her with concern.
"Yes bug, they have a lot of great responsibility." Mama told her.
"I know they do." Teek replied, thinking she was being referred to again.
"I wasn't talking to you darlin'," Mama assured Teek. "I was talking to Hannah. I have to remember not to call her bug in your presence."
"What kind of responsibility mama?" Hannah asked.
"Well, for one, they need a bath at least once a week."
"I can do that." Hannah making her promise.
"They need to be fed and watered everyday, just like you."
"I can do that too." Hannah making more promises.
"And you have to clean up after them if they make a mistake in the house. Can you promise that too?" Mama put Teek down on the coffee table.
"At least I don't make a mess that needs cleaned up." As Teek stood up on the coffee table, with her nose in the air and her arms folded.
"I should hope not." Said mama. "At least I can vaccum your dust up that you leave behind."
"Well, Teek are you going to let me make my third wish or not?" Hannah getting impatient looking at the clock on the wall. "We've only thirty minutes before my time runs out." She was reminding Teek.
"By the way Teek, this doesn't fall under the rule thing does it?" Mama asked her.
"What are you talking about mama?" Hannah was asking with a questionable concern.
"Wouldn't that be considered a friend?"
"They're not friends, they're pests." Teek spoke up. "Nothing in the rules that pertains to animals as being friends."
"Ok then, I'm ready to make my wish." Hannah looking at the clock again, with only fifteen minutes left for her wish to be made. "Hurry up Teek or I will lose you too."
"Okay...okay, hang on."As Teek unfolded her arms and reached into her wing for some special fairy dust. She sprinkled it into the air, after saying a certain cantation. "There, it is done. You still have minutes to spare, so that means you have me around. Until the flea bag comes around."
"What do you mean, until?" Hannah asked a little sternly.
"Welllll, we'll have to see how much attention you pay to that critter or me." Teek said after dusting her hands off.
"You'll always be my friend Teek. I won't ever forget you." As Hannah assured her. "I won't do anything to make you disappear."
"Ok, we'll just have to wait and see in one week, if that fluffy puppy shows up or not."
"Oh boy, my first wish came true, my second wish, I am waiting on for you mama, and now my third wish, is something for me. I did good, didn't I mama?"
"Yes you did bu.....uhhhh...buggles." She thought for a second before finishing it.
"We'll all be happy now." As Hannah starts her happy dance around the living room once again.

Dedicated to my special fan.
