Oh Tanya, while I respect this as your opinion I dont think it's truly correct:

I am color blind by choice

I chose not to care what happened to get you here
I chose to celebrate that you are here

I chose not to cry about what happened
I chose to celebrate that we have made it this far

I chose not to care about the color or anyone's skin
I'd rather celebrate that we are all here and able to make tomorrow a much better place.

No one has the power to make a person think less of their own experiences, they only thing that someone can do is express their opinions, how that is interpreted is another story in it's entirety.

No one has the ability or power to belittle you
only you. People only have the power we give them.

Awesome insight there...I see why you split this into paternalistic and color blind categories...as I was trying to fit the whole concept into post reflective like a circle in a square hole. I say kudos to the past, both positive and negative things have happened. I say hurray for today, giving us the chance to do better, and a wishful thinking that tomorrow we will see past all the obstacles and enjoy life and it's glory.
