*raises hand* Question Tanya...where does Guilt Racism fit in these categories? There are people whose race issues are built on the guilt for their own families participation in slavery. IMO, this takes on either defensive or overprotective rolls both. What do YOU think bout that? BTW...thought provoking no matter ones personal opinion on the matter. ![]() ![]() ![]() great question No1s (how ya feeling?) ![]() ![]() How are you doing hon? Staying strong I hope! ![]() |

Oh Tanya, while I respect this as your opinion I dont think it's truly correct:
I am color blind by choice I chose not to care what happened to get you here I chose to celebrate that you are here I chose not to cry about what happened I chose to celebrate that we have made it this far I chose not to care about the color or anyone's skin I'd rather celebrate that we are all here and able to make tomorrow a much better place. No one has the power to make a person think less of their own experiences, they only thing that someone can do is express their opinions, how that is interpreted is another story in it's entirety. No one has the ability or power to belittle you only you. People only have the power we give them. I have an easy outlook on life -- treat others how you want to be treated regardless ![]() works 9 out of 10 times that last person - usually gives in ![]() ![]() |

(((No1sLove)))) btw great question! [and its great practice for me as a future professor ![]() You will make a terrific professor Tanya! Awesome insight there...I see why you split this into paternalistic and color blind categories...as I was trying to fit the whole concept into post reflective like a circle in a square hole. Would need a lot of shaving to make it fit and I don't like to work so hard. ![]() ![]() THIS is why you are the professor dear! ![]() Nice topic...food for everyone. ![]() |

(((fran)))) I think you also touched on a little of personal responsibility... I absolutely feel like each individual does have there own responsibities. And that the past should not be used as an excuse or escape goat for your own life now. However, culture, beliefs, experience are what we are made up of and should be recognized and celebrated!

I only have the power to make you as uncomfortable as you allow, and vice versa. I say kudos to the past, both positive and negative things have happened. I say hurray for today, giving us the chance to do better, and a wishful thinking that tomorrow we will see past all the obstacles and enjoy life and it's glory. Just my opinion --- you are an amazing woman! |
