Plastic Pail

I filled with sand my favorite pail.
On the beach I played.
Never needing worry,
A child and unafraid.

So many things I thought of,
When I would grow life.
Things to do and places,
Travel to, no strife.

The world became available.
It beckoned, I would call,
Anything I thought of,
Never seeming small.

A day, the change, that I had born,
I turned around to see,
He was filling plastic pails.
I remembered past and me.

His world had called him to serve,
Beyond what I could know,
Filling lives, a sandy plain,
His purpose he would sow.

A plastic pail, a dreaming child.
The world beyond my reach.
Babies grown to men, my past.
A purpose, love to each.
