I think it can be a good gauge, but there are mothers that can be a little tough to take.

What kind of man would disrespect his mother? You've met some mothers who didn't deserve respect, surely.

There are those dead-beat moms and dead-beat dads that are just difficult to respect. So it doesn't necessarily mean a person will disrespect ALL women or ALL men.

Yes, most likely. Because even if you have a mother who is unfit you can still show her respect. Love and attention do not equal respect.
