Here is my try at writing a short story. Please be kind cause I havent
written a story in a long while.

Here it is:

“You make him sound like he is the perfect man or something.” Krista
looked over at her friend Kimmie and wanted to laugh at the look of pure
love covering her best friends features.

Kimmie picked up a picture of a dark haired guy in a marine uniform.
“But Krista I swear he is the perfect guy. He is like no one I have ever
met before. I know that we have only know each other a month but I swear
he is my soul mate. He makes me feel things I have never felt before. He
looks at me and I feel like the most beautiful girl in the world.”

Just then the radio starts playing the song This Kiss by Faith Hill.
Kimmie holds the picture close to her heart and starts dancing around in
circles and singing along to the music. Krista just sits there laughing.

But that had been two months ago. Before everything came crashing down.
Before her best friends world had come to an end. Before Kimmie had
received the phone call telling her that Matt had died in active duty.
Two months since Kimmie had died inside.

Krista and all of Kimmies other friends had done everything they could
think of to make Kimmie snap out of her depression but it just didn’t
seem to work. Every day it seemed like she died a little more inside.
She barely spoke, she hardly ate, she stopped going out altogether.
Mostly she just stayed locked up in her room holding onto Matts picture.
Krista didn’t know what to do. She hated seeing her friend like this.
But nothing she did seemed to help.

Kimmie sat in her room hugging the teddy bear Matt had sent her before
he died. She didn’t know what to do. It had been two months since she
lost the man of her dreams. She didn’t know how to go on. She felt
hollow inside and she felt like she had no reason to go on.

Her friends tried to help of course. They tried to get her to go places,
but everywhere she went she was just reminded of Matt. She was reminded
of his touch, his kiss, his smile. She missed him so much her heart
actually hurt. She wipes her eyes as the tears start to fall again. She
closes her eyes and falls asleep.

Kimmie can t believe it! Matt was there! In front of her. He was alive!
She didn’t understand why he looked so sad thought. Why would he be sad?
He should be happy he was alive again. They could be together.

Matt walked towards her and took her hand. He smiled at her before
speaking. “Hey darling. Hows my girl?” Tears start to gather in both of
there eyes. She knows that she was wrong and that Matt really is gone.
“I don’t have much time honey. I just came to give you a message. I love
you, I loved you with my dying breath and I will love you forever. But
it was my time to go. But you, its not your time. You need to live
again. You cant let yourself die because I did. You have a whole life to
live love. Please as long as you live remember I love you, and live your
life for me.”
He kissed her one final time. The kiss was filled with all the passion
that existed in that one moment. “I love you.” He said before
disappearing and leaving Kimmie awake in her room.

“And that is how she learned to live again. Of course she married
eventually but she loved Matt until she died. All 87 years later.”
Krista smiled at the look on her granddaughters face. She did love the
story of her nanas best friend finding life again in a dream.

You should make it into a novel. It truely touched me, to the point of
almost crying. A truely touching piece.
