Sadly, much of what you've paid into the system in the past 7 years has been wasted in Iraq destroying and killing. Our kids will be paying our SS if there still is one.

Great, the liberal playing the Iraq Card again...

Has anyone noticed when it is not going their way, they magically pull out the Iraq Card and play it.

What's not going my way? This is amusement. Can I get a "NOBAMA," Einstein?

SS recipients are paid out of current taxes. There is no "fund," just trillions in IOU's to the Chinese and Russians, among others.

Anyone here ever take a high school political science class?

To illustrate political philosophies one could almost draw a circle placing each theory of government around the circle where one merges into the other.

In each and every form of government one thing holds true.

Absolute power corrupts absolutely.

Even in representative democracies.

If Obama wins the Presidency, it really WILL be the end of the world as Republicans know it!

End of the backroom deals for greedy corporations orchestrated by Halliburton-stock-owning D I C K Cheney!

End of a 100 year occupation in Iraq!

End to religious wacko fundamentalists, neocons and right-wing pundits controlling the political discourse in this country!

End to secret prisons, ignoring the rule of law, cronyism and massive outsourcing of jobs to other countries!

End to the massive failures of the Bush Administration and the dawn of a new era of hope for the American People!

Oh, yeah Bush tried to do something about social security. He advocating privatizing it. Look around at failing banks, the FDIC saying recently it may not have the money to cover all bank failures, the out of control manipulation of the oil markets, companies like ENRON and the collapse of the housing markets and tell me privatizing social security would be a good idea?

Oh, by the way, I don't beleive the Dem's will "solve" the troubles with the SSI because it's to good an issue to campaign on especially as the population ages.

"Entitlement reform is especially urgent. Unless we reform Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid, these programs will eventually crowd out all other federal spending. Otherwise, by 2040 our government could be doing little more than sending out Social Security checks and paying interest on our massive national debt."
- David M. Walker, Comptroller General

The Bush bashing Begins...... Going ot be the samething Over and Over and Over.....

Social Security was doing Just Fine until Johnson got his Liberal paws on it.

The government adopted a unified budget in the Johnson administration in 1968. This change resulted in a single measure of the fiscal status of the government, based on the sum of all government activity.[48] The surplus in Social Security trust funds offsets the total debt, making it appear much smaller than it otherwise would.

No argument there, although JFK and LBJ were probably more conservative on some issues than the republicans of today. LBJ tried to fight poverty and Vietnam simultaneously and we got the inflation and recession of the 70's. The liberals of today were born in the streets protesting that war and at the DNC in Chicago in 1968. Now here we are.
