Me: I flew from Burbank ( 1 PM) connected into SFO airport. Got a 1030 PM flight to Seattle, got in late at 1:30 AM, spend the night sleeping at the airport ( those airport seats are awful) and got a 7:30 AM flight. I flew into Seattle and drove three hours home.

I won't do that again.

Best Airline : "Virgin America".

Worse: United Airlines Those CRJ-200/700's awful.

What do you think of the show " Locked Up Abroad? How true is it?

Now let me hear your experiences.

Left Germany at 5am, and landed in Saudi Arabia later that day. I stayed for about 5 months back in 90-91... Wait. It wasn't a vacation at all, but I did get a fantastic tan ....bigsmile

For me, Las Vegas! Didn't have near enough money and it was 110* the whole time we were there! The most fun we had was sitting in a casino bar drinking comped drinks. explode noway I'll take the woods or mountains any day. flowers love

glasses

Oh, and the flights were delayed on my way home. My luggage got to OKC on one plane and I came in on another. I guess I should be thankful that both made it! laugh drinker

I work at sea, aboard ships so I travel ALOT. It would be a toss up;
1) Being stuck at an airport for 27 hours due to homeland security and the events that took place a few years ago in England. The flight would have only been 4 hours.
2) Having worked a 12 hour night shift, getting off the ship and taken to the airport only to fall asleep waiting for the plane to board, waking up as it was taking off down the runway. Took 2 days to get home. frustrated
3) Getting off the ship by myself in Port Said, Egypt, walking around exploring, than realising the men were making noises at me as I was the only woman on the street walking around in tight jeans with my hair flying --- they must have thought I was a hooker ! laugh

I went to Prague, Budapest, Vienna and Germany with two girl friends. One of them I travelled really well with to Italy the year before. The other one I knew casually through a hiking club we all belonged to and she seemed friendly enough. I'm pretty easy going and figured I could get along with anyone, so I didn't mind when she wanted to join our trip. Boy, was I wrong! That girl was THE MOST INFLEXIBLE PERSON - EVER. She was sooo picky and needed so much attention! Our interests in what to do, see and even eat could not have been more opposite. The other friend and I had no problems doing things on our own, especially when we had different things we wanted to see and do, but this girl insisted the three of us do EVERYTHING together. It was awful. I haven't talked to her since that trip and hope I never run into her ever again!

Okay - Great topic for me!

I have always worked in the travel industry so I have a few horror stories :)

1. I went on a 24 hour fam trip to Jamaica. Fams are usually free trips for agents to check out hotels and restaurants. It was thru Air Jamaica.
They started the rum punch at every stop so we were having a great time. The trouble started on the way home...our nonstop flight back to NY had to be diverted to Philadelphia due to a noreaster.
Since there were no customs officers that could clear our flight we had to stay at the back of the runway and wait it out. We were on the ground for about 8 hours. No one was permitted off the plane and they claimed no cell phones. Someone faked a heart attack so they could get off and use their phone! The plane ran out of snacks and booze quickly. Imagine being stuck with 100 travel agents! It was maddening!

2. I went to Israel for vacation with a coworker ( didnt really know her well before the trip). We had a disagreement and I wanted to return home early. I went to the airport and tried to standby for a flight home ( I had a free ticket so I would always be the last to be boarded) I was told "sure you can get on" "go ahead and check your luggage through" So I checked my bag..then I did not make the flight..so now I only have the clothes on my back! I had to go back to the house and wash out my clothes every night!! It took me 3 more days before I could get out of Tel Aviv!! I had to stand by for every El Al flight and finally was able to get to London and then had a bigger choice to get back to the states.

3. When I worked for Alitalia I had won free tickets to Eqypt..but all my friends had already used their vacations...so I went by myself. I was 18 years old. Big mistake! Every man that I met asked me to marry them. I got suckered into a "NY" style city tour (code for boy did I get ripped off!) As we drove thru the city the guide just pointed out the window - "that's a pyramid" - "that's the Sphinx" I can laugh about it now...

I will post more later on....Thanks for letting me re-live these memories :)
