Voil, will get back to this tomorrow. Just got in from pool and wanted
to check any new posts. I have more to add so will reply tomorrow.

K - I sent you an email. Would like to know other stuff you've read
that you found interesting. Maybe start a topic, list some of the books
to see if there are any we've read and want to discuss. I'd like that!

Tomorrow - then!

More thoughts on contemporay Gnosticism 'spirit':

Thinking of the images I sense when hearing the position of a
'traditionalist or fundamentalist Christian,

...here is what WHAT GNOSTICISM WOULDN'T BE:
Dogmatic, Dictatorial, Prejudicial, Rigid, Inflexible, Impractical,
Opinionated

... and WHAT IT MIGH VERY WELL BE as an alternative to fundamentalist
Christianity:
Moderate, Sensible, Tolerant, Reasonable, Flexible, Humane,
Open-minded (no flags, no limiting boxes).

A modern day 'Gnostic in spirit' (not a Gnostic by definition), might
be HANS KÜNG, very famous Catholic Church theologian, whom participated
in VaticanII as such (VatII, remembered for its significant eccumenical
focus), right alonside Josef Ratzinger.

The two young theologians (at that time), were tagged as the young
upcomers to watch in 'church' circles. Ratzinger has since become Pope
as we know; could be said to have toed the 'corporate line', while Küng
was stripped of his special right to teach theology ('78 or '79), for
having questionned the infallability of the Pope (huge piece of Catholic
Dogma).

Considered an enlightened and generous 'Rebel' to Church Dogma, Kûng has
been devoting the lion share of his time (since about 1990) to promoting
a foundation "...for planetary ethics".
It is seeking to develop and strenghten cooperation between religions,
beyond simple acknowledgment of commun values. Rather, his efforts are
at the source of real practical initiatives between religions-churches,
proning universal human development and world peace.

Stretch the Küng's 'open' christian line, toward the already wide-open
Dalaï Lama 'Budhist line', or the 'Gnostic Universal Church', and the
gap becomes fairly easy to bridge, in a small scale eccumenical sense!

Anyhow, I suspect you would enjoy Hans Küng's position and work, you
can taste the 'fresh thinking'. Nowhere do come across re-wording of
old rethoric!!! Wrote several amazing books. His latest is: 'My fight
for Liberty! a 'rapprochement' between religions'.

??? Pool as in wet? or pool as in numbered and colored balls???

Voil - more great info, can't wait to have time to read up and catch up
on all this wonderful information.

Oh, and it's pool as in (to make a bet or anti) the hustle game once
found only in off track betting parlors, hence the term pool. I'm a big
billiards history buff too. Nothing like Louisville during the durby to
find a great game of pool. Or Chicago for some of the best "unknown"
players in the world. Though, Indiana is not off the map where that's
concerned.
