So, it seems I have a furry little visitor that snuck into my house sometime this week. He (or she) has been spotted in my closet and then under a bookshelf. Yes, I have a mouse in my house.

I like mice. I have had mice as furry little pets. However- this one, is not welcome. Sorry Mickey, but you have to go.

My kids are horrified with the idea that I may actually harm this jolly little ball of fluff, so I let them talk me into a "humane" trap that consists of a small plastic box that opens at both ends.

Hypothetically, you put peanut butter in it and the mouse says to himself, "yum, yum! That looks quite tasty- I think I'll go have a look in this safe looking box." Then just when he is starting to enjoy the oh so delicious taste of Jiff, WHAM!!!! The box closes him inside, making it easy to pick it up and release him in the wild blue yonder of the field down the street.

Riiiiiigggghhhht...

I am thinking that the whole trap weighs less than a mouse, is most certainly NOT going to fool any rodent into walking into it, and IF, and this is a big IF, I happen to catch it, it's going to take all of 15 mins. for it to find it's way back to my house to get some more peanut butter.

I can just see the little fella now.
Hiding.
Waiting.

Giggling it's furry little ass off at me.

"Next time, put some jelly with it biotch!"

why don't you get those sticky traps- the little "darling" walks over them and gets stuck and can't go anywhere and you can dispose of it at your leisure

just do it before mickey dies as the smell of decomp is rather nauseating- they are better than the traps that snap its little head off.

if you see one there are usually more- maybe you might want to call an exterminator. or at least ask one for advice so the kids aren't traumatized

Sorry Mis, but the snap trap is the way to go. Glue traps are too cruel. The kids are going to have to learn.

rant  grumble I have that same problem. However, I got his little number. He got poison, traps, and all kinds of stuff waiting for him. He just seems to know how to get around all that stuff! Smart bastard!

So, I am assuming that the "humane" traps are about as good as a piece of used fish???

My cat is afraid of mice after she found one that wanted to fight her back. Now she runs from the mice.

Glue traps are no good. Even if they get stuck on it sometimes they will chew there own legs off to get away. Finding a trap with little legs and no mouse stuck on it is pretty disturbing.

The snap trap seems to be the quickest and least messy way of getting them. I like to think that its a quick death for them so they don't suffer.

Thats funny!..a friend of mine has a huge cat (probally a 12 -15 lb cat) that is also afraid of mice...he jumps up on the back of her sofa and paces until it is gone laugh

I would'nt recomend Decon poison either because once they find water they die anywhere in your house sick
