Respectfully disagree....

She has learned to manipulate you......and you have reacted predictably .....you must change.....

You do not negotiate with a ten year old...you do not argue...you have allowed this "stubborn" behavior to flourish...

Stubborn...obstinate.... are words you have attributed to her behavior....

I call it being 10 years old..happy

You negotiate with a gifted 10 year old.

I gotta say I disagree too. The last couple of weeks I have had to really step up my game with one of my eleven year olds. That's exactly what she was doing...manipulating me. Using every trick in the book to get her way. I stopped talking, stopped negotiating and stopped making compromises. Every time she decided to skip out on one of her responsibilities (which wasn't much, believe me), she lost her privileges. She's finally starting to get the picture that Mom isn't going to be fooled and actually showed some respect when I didn't back down. It's not fun being the big meanie, but it really is working. Her attitude is coming around too, wonder of all wonders! It's amazing how quickly behaviors can spiral out of control if you don't keep on top of it.

Thank you. :) I know I've allowed this to 'control' my reactions and I need to stop this. I'm SO incredibly proud of her, she's a good hearted girl. I just swear before she's 13 I'm gonna pop her pretty head off! HA!!
well, wait til puberty...you take more brisk walks then you ever thought possible....lol....mine is a sweety...but even at 22 I still want to pop her in the head at times...she is so lucky that I love herlaugh laugh laugh

She's already showing signs of this. I think it'll be this year. ACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's hard not to let their actions make you blow your top. Been there done that. I have 3 daughters, 2 of which are teenagers, and the third will be ten in Feb. You are just going to have to find out what is important to her and take it away. Sometimes spanking is the only option as well, but at that age that is rare and far between.
