I think there should be a gentic criteria for survival and if they can't meet that genetic criteria then they should be aborted

my own personal opinion is: in most cases i think abortion should be abolished.
why? ok as the woman, you went and had sex...took the risk of getting pregnant, and got pregnant. its your fault, deal with it. the very LEAST you could do is have the baby and give it up for adoption. and dont tell me you wouldnt be able to afford having the baby. you could do at home child birth which drastically cuts down on the medical expenses, and if you can afford to have an abortion, you can afford to have a baby and give it up for adoption, there is no sense in killing off an unborn child.
also one last point i would like to make: if a woman decides to have an abortion, its not murder.... but if someone kills woman who is pregnant then its considered a double homicide... what is up with that? either its a life or its not, you CANNOT have both.
Now thereare only two cases in which i think abortion is ok
1. the mother was raped and got pregnant

2. keeping the child would cause the mothers death or something else very extreme

ohhhhhh noooooooo....trick question.......you just want to see me flip out....

I have numerous times stated my position.....via "GiannaJessen.com"

Here goes again....

Gianna Jessen's Biography

"Gianna Jessen does not quit. Giving up is not an option to her. Gianna has what she refers to as the "gift" of Cerebral Palsy. She weighed a mere 2 lbs at birth and the doctors said she would never be able to hold up her head, sit up, crawl or walk. She began to walk by the age of three years old with the help of leg braces and a walker.

Gianna doesn’t believe that her Cerebral Palsy takes away her life, but, rather, enriches it. . . she walks with a slight limp today and runs marathons. On April 30, 2005 she completed her first 26.2 mile marathon after running just over 7 hours and was presented with the coveted blank blank award! On April 23, 2006 she completed the London Marathon as well. She is now determined to run marathons all over the place, because she was never supposed to even walk!

Gianna understands the plight of orphans, being one herself. She was placed into the foster care system early on in life, eventually being taken into the loving home of a woman named Penny. Penny has been a mother to 56 foster children in her life. Gianna was later adopted by Penny's daughter, making Penny Gianna's grandmother. According to Gianna, Penny saved her life.

Gianna is a Christian. Her life was given to her by the grace of God. She shouldn't be walking, but more miraculous still; she should not even be alive. Gianna's biological mother was 17 when she had a saline abortion in her third trimester. Many Americans don’t realize it is legal to have an abortion throughout all nine months of pregnancy. After being burned alive for approximately 18 hours in the womb from the saline solution, Gianna was delivered alive in a Los Angeles County abortion clinic. Her medical records state, "born during saline abortion"...this is what caused her Cerebral Palsy.

Gianna's travels and experiences have led her all over the world. Her life has been covered by many major news media outlets, including, most recently, the BBC News and World Radio, Sky News, and The Good Morning Show in England, reaching many people with a message of hope and conviction. In November 2005, Gianna spoke in several colleges all over Ireland and in December of the same year, spoke at a meeting held at the House of Commons in London. She has returned to England this year to speak in several parochial and public high schools. Gianna’s audiences include: churches - church youth crusades and women’s ministry retreats; various corporations as a motivational speaker; secular and Christian youth organizations and schools – middle school age through college, as well as several times before Congress - most recently having her testimony read before the Supreme Court in Carhart v. Gonzales "

Have you ever read my signing off "Fighting for the unborn baby?"

why do men think they have it all?

I think they should have an opinion on that topic when they can get pregnant, too.grumble

Such narrow-minded, judgmental ideologies could almost be used as justification for genetic gene pool cleansing...

...seems there should be SOME criteria for determining which genetic attributes get passed along to future generations.

Goodness knows, we have processes in place that determine who is competent to drive a car... who is qualified to teach our children in the school... which individuals are licensed to carry weapons...

You would think we could come up with a set of criteria as to who is allowed to create a human being in this world. Want to indiscriminately spread your legs/seed? Go for it.. just don't sentence an innocent child into a lifetime of narrow-minded, judgmental ideologies that the rest of humanity has to deal with.

I feel fortunate that i have never had to deal with that decision, the women that have, that i know personally did not take it lightly and chose that option by in large because they knew too late the man would not step up to the plate.

It of course is easy to say that if a woman chooses to have a child on their own that there will be support for them, ha. I am a widowed single mother, and i make a point of telling people that when i meet them in parent kid setting because I am woefully aware that coupled people look down on single parents and their offspring.

I guess what I am trying to say that although I don't think I would be able to have an abortion myself, i am glad others have the Choice.

Finally, I know that I may have gotten knocked up a long the way if it wasn't for the fact that when i decided to have sex, I could go to my parents and planned parenthood. Amen

It's not my job to tell a woman what to do with her own body.

Abortion should be left as an option...

No one has the right to tell a woman to have a baby if she doesnt want to

Everyone thinks it is so easy to just carry the child and then let go at birth?...Whatever...

After ALL the threads I see on here about it, Never once..NOT ONCE have I seen anyone consider the reprocussions to the child later down the road.....

Of course it wouldn't be easy - is anything with parenthood EVER easy?! That is why being a true, loving parent is about selflessness - putting aside ones own needs for making sure the child's needs are taken care of.

Personally, I couldn't do it. I would move hell and high water to provide what was in the best interest of my child; however, not all mothers-to-be have that amount of strength and wherewithall. 'Tis better they are realistic with what they can and can not do over the long haul - and give their child the best possibility for a happy, healthy life. Sometimes, that might mean adoption.
