I am arranging my dad's funeral and have to pick some music. I just visited a site really quickly that listed popular music - OMG!!!! noway
Some of the songs they listed included:

Another one bites the dust -
Going underground -
Drugs don't work -
Something about meeting the reaper - huh

there were the regular ones on there too,
but I was just amazed at some of the titles
of the songs on there. Good grief!!!frustrated

It was on there too, but wow, some of the titles.
I listened to a few of the songs, they give a few seconds of them. Some are okay. I don't know which ones to use. Hard to know.

There was a site that listed "dark funeral" music, I didn't go near it.

Pantera's "Cemetery Gates" could work as a funeral song...

I don't think he had any favorite song really, he liked the old country western music and had a bunch of old tapes, but no real favorites.

I like Garth Brooks "The Dance" but not sure if that would work.

Thanks for the suggestions though, I will check "Cemetary Gates" out.

Ian Hunter's "Rest in Peace" is about the most perfect tribute song ever written.

Thanks Beach, will check it out, I don't know if I have heard it.

Thanks for all your help. I have been having a hard time with this, wanted to not use the old standbys, these suggestions are great. flowerforyou

Another one bites the dust...I dont know what I would do if that came on during a funeral.

"This is not an exit" by Saves the day always makes me think of death but in a good way.

I agree with Gypsy, Marie....AND..just play music and celebrate.....some of the early 60s party music ended up being SO appropriate for my mother's "celebration".....

just me...I know

anyway I think this is pretty universal..

Rest In Peace

Oh if my wheel could take another turn
and if my life replaced itself again,
I wouldn't want a single thing to change.
Oh it's been good, though it's been strange.

And if my dreams were willing to come true,
oh I would not even try to let them through.
I'm sure there's things I've missed, that others preached.
The goals they reached, they weren't for me.

Rest in peace,
even though the worries seem to mount,
don't let them count.
Rest in peace.

Throw all those smiles and paper miles away.
You make willow pattern pictures through the rain.
And swallow when your heart begins to breathe,
just like a bird, do what it please.

'Cause I ain't gonna be here all that long
and when I'm old I want to know I sung.
If there's a road ahead, I'll jump right in.
Just got to win, this is my hymn.

Rest in peace,
even though your worries seem to mount,
don't let them count.
Rest in peace.

Rest in peace.

Although this may not seem like your grandfathers type of music, here's a good song for a funeral song...

Linkin Park-"Leave Out All the Rest"
Listen to it, you may actually like it...

I agree with you about the songs.
I have some relatives that are pretty strict
in their religious beliefs so trying to stay middle of the road.

Beach - I do like the lyrics to that song though, thanks. I will listen to it. I was hoping to get away from the usual and do something a little more modern.

I will check it out Image, thanks.

Again, thanks for all your help. My brain is pretty much mush right now, so I really appreciate these suggestions. flowerforyou
