Sorry, I don't buy your comparison on Hitler and Obama. You might not like Obama but their actions as leaders are not in the same league. Get some perspective please? I wonder what they will name after Shrub who started a war based on a lie that has killed over 4k US troops and countless civilians? Hell, there are lots of people who have issues with Jackson being on the $20 bill. No matter the issue or personality there is some group somewhere that will be offended. i am the one that used hitlers name in this thread to point out that the people wanting to change the school name should not be the reason for a name change there should be other criteria involved yes he was the first black president granted but that in its self is not good enough at this time but down the road it would be to change the name now for the simple fact that he is black would be very racist if they named a school after nixion in 1970 would it still be nmed after him in 1976 he was a great president to bad he was a ""crook"" per say |

They named an airport after Regan and after what he did to the air traffic controllers that was not appropriate. If the people in the neighborhood and the students want to name the school after obama or Mister Magoo it's their business and no one elses. good point. I know of the airport but had not even thought of the implication thier. It is almost like saying we are proud of a president who took away the right for a union to strike. This has passed on to city workers and many other unions. The middle class was done great harm in his decision. people since have complained about unions and at the same time wanted the good paying union jobs. Strikes are almost a thing of the past now. How many picket lines have you seen in the last 20 years? |

I suppose there's some kind of -ist that could be applied to honoring Geo. Washington too I realize the distinction between concept and subject matter. Oh and to add to my random thoughts post. Tricky **** was not all bad. An examination of his presidency shows it was about more than just Watergate, the cover-up, the missing minutes of tape and all those other images that pop up when someone says Nixon. History for most people boils down to little catch phrases like Nixon being Tricky **** or the Civil War being about slavery or Columbus sailing the ocean blue...history and life are seldom that simple. la la la Rambling while medicated...sorry folks... |
