I can't say that I'm happy to see so many people with similar problems... but I am happy to see that you are talking about them. I skimmed throught all the posts and would like to add my 2 cents.

Exercise...... do what you can, when you can... you have to keep moving!!! water therapy is great... if nothing else, go to the YMCA and walk in the pool.... Swimming saved me!!!!

Neurontin.... It's an anti-seizure medication that is also used to treat nerve disorders. It was wonderful!!! but I gained 50lbs in 2 months..... it wasn't worth it to me, but I miss being able to feel my hands and feet!

Flexeril - Ask your doctor if the dosage you are taking is the re-formulated "version" the old one was great as a sleep aide... but the new one is non-drowsy (which is great during the day!)

relaxation and muscle pain relief - bath water as hot as you can stand it.... a box of epsom salts.... and a bottle of hydrogen peroxide. Do this only when you have time to sleep afterwards because it can REALLY make your muscles rubbery! This is Dr. approved... apparently it oxiginates your muscles... it works for me!!!!!!

Hi everyone,

I was diagnosed with Fibromylgia 7 years ago. I do research periodically to see what new developments are coming about, does not always seem promising.

I still work a fulltime job, 50 hours plus some weeks. However, I have to say I have had to make some lifestyle changes to compensate for it.

I do not like taking drugs so I use meditation however, I do have to take the pain meds or else I can not move enough to work. And see how I can not afford to wait for disability which I was told can take any where from 6 months to 5 years to get what other choice do I really have.

I understand the pain and frustration that we all seem to be going through.

The hardest thing for me is that otherwise I look very healthy so people do not realize what is going on with me and/or they do not believe me.

OMG~! I cannot believe that this thread exists and I am just finding it! Finally... folks that understand.

About 7 yrs ago I got real sick.. it took over a year to diagnos.. Fibro w/CFS... since then nerve damage and disc damage & deteriation in my neck & spine.

Lots of things about having these ailments suck.. but the top 4?

1 - Like wishin said: Folks can't see it! So they really have no idea just how painful it is, or how debilitating the fatigue is.

2 - The meds! I gained 75 lbs in one year literally doing nothing but sleeping and swallowing pills.

3 - Some of the meds I simply cannot function when taking them.. thus, I don't (ie: Neuratin). I am a single mom.. and I need to be awake! *L* And anytime they try to change the dosage or meds...OMG, I cannot tell you just how sick I get.

4 - I have found that there is a connection between dairy consumption & a fibro attack for me ;o( Which really BITES, cause dairy is my all time favorite food group! I literally have to PLAN to have ice cream! I need to make sure my calender is light for a few days.

I am so sorry to see so many here.. and yet.. it is nice to have company of those that understand.

Blessings~!
LV

Wow, I have read through the thread. I never really understood this disease. I was diagnosed with it a few years ago, but have stuck my head in the sand. I seem to always be dealing with my other health problems, so I just ignored it. I still get what I call ghost pains. Mostly in my joints in my hips and shoulders, but I just tough them out. If I do have this, it is not very advanced.......Sorry you all have to go through thisflowerforyou

I was very thankful to just wake up today...
I have alot of faith... but am so scared lately.
My lungs have been filling with fluid badly lately.
I can hardly walk across a room without gasping for air.
The rasping sounds are awful.
Late last night I accually did'nt think I was going to make
it. I am not wanting pity. I just need a gentle hug.
I am so very sick right now. I pray for it to pass-
like it has in the past. Yet I know I am not invinceable.
I am taking medication's- but my lungs are pissed...
Sometimes I wish this were just a bad dream.
I have alot of life left and want to live it...
I am just feeling really vunerable right now.
