Did it ever seem like magic to ya? My first computer was an old Radio
Shack Color Two. I liked playing with the Fractals. I remember the first time from going along with the book I could change the color of the screen. All of them old commands were something. I screwed up my first set of DOS 6 floppies by using the AutoExecBat on the first floppy. I took Linux at College. They called it DOS 2. I bet Linus Torvalds would have blew a gasket if he heard them at the College calling Linux DOS 2. My professor had to help me with Linux. Another professor actually took an old computer using Linux to make a physical firewall. That did it. I tried to learn Linux. Then I found out what a memory hog the Windows kernel is. Then the cooperation different users could add to the kernel. That is why I call DOS dumb. You have to learn as you go to understand Linux so Linux is not dumb. Just as you learn the programming from scratch you can learn Linux but DOS and Windows it is so much about being user friendly. I screwed up Windows 3.1 the first time I used it by using the command line. |
