MOSCOW - The Russian navy said Wednesday one of its warships would sail this week through Panama Canal — a symbolic projection of Moscow's power to the U.S. zone of influence.

It will be the first time since World War II that a Soviet or Russian military vessel crosses the canal, Russian navy spokesman Capt. Igor Dygalo said.

besides last I heard the Panama Canal is administered by the Chinese


EDIT: I was on the second Navy warship that allowed a Russian helicopter to land on it. And we gave tours to them (with shrouds over certain equipments)

they were cool, awfully nice people. except for the KGB guy that followed everyone around

The carrier group headed by the USS Kittyhawk had “to halt and ready for battle, as the Chinese vessels also stopped amid the 28-hour confrontation,” according to one report.
A Chinese attack submarine and destroyer confronted the U.S. carrier Kitty Hawk and its battle group in the Taiwan Strait, sparking a tense 28-hour standoff that brought both sides to a battle-ready position

A battle that would have lasted 5 minutes. I cant seem to get that page to load buy I will bet it was an antiquated sub..
