I love pigeons any other members have pet pigeons or any stories they would like to share?

I once worked in a large storage container yard that had thousands of containers. The pigeons would sometimes lay eggs and have babies in between the containers and when we took them down there would be these baby pigeons. Most of my co workers wanted to drop kick them into the road but I would get a box and put the pigeons in them and take them home.A baby pigeon from birth to adult only takes about a month so it was no big deal to raise them. After they could fly I would throw them out the window and usually never see them again. One year I raised two baby pigeons and threw them out the window. When I came back from work they were both at the window again.I opened the window and they came inside.I fed them and they spent the night and in the morning I would open the window and let them out. Then when I got back at 6pm they would fly back and I would let them back inside.I named the female "Baby" and the male "Homer".Baby died tragically after hitting a closed window about 3 months after I first raised her.Homer pigeon stayed with me for many years.Every day he left my apartment and every night he came back. When I had to move to a new apartment I knew that Homer would only fly back to my old apartment in Seattle even if I moved hundreds of miles away.So I let Homer make the decision...My last night in my apartment Homer landed on the window ledge. He always came inside every time once I opened the window. That night I said "Homer you want to stay or move somewhere else"?I said "if you want to stay don't come inside if you want to move come inside".Homer never came inside and I am happy he wanted to stay as it was probably best for us.I often wonder what happened to Homer pigeon but I think he is ok and I'm sure he would remember me if he saw me again.

I am sure that they can be pretty cool pets...but where I come from, they're considered rats with wings...I wouldn't mind trying squab, though...

If a bird that flies around the sea is called a SEAgull...what do they call a bird that flies around the bay?

Ive raised pet birds (macaws, amazons, and cockatoos) for about 15 years now. Since i was 10 years old, birds are not for everyone but they are amazing creatures.

Ive got a scarlet macaw that knows how to use a key to unlock a small box i always hide his Brazil nuts in, its a neat trick to watch.

But that brain can get them into trouble sometimes 2 though

Is that true that a seagull can blow up by eating alka seltzer?I have heard that rumor don't know if it's true or not.

From what I understand, they can't fart...so what's your opinion, Brandon? So far, you seem to have the most knowledge...

I consider pigeons flying termites. I have spent a small fortune repairing my wood trim where they will peck and chew a holes. Not to mention the noise which is a drag at four oclock in the morning. And their quana burns the paint off metal siding and kills srubs.

One of the funniest things I have ever seen was a seagull in a Burger King parking lot trying to deal with an onion ring that someone had thrown out for it.rofl

Good morning, they are so sweet! They're God's little creatures and I'm glad someone else likes them. You're a guy with a heart.
