 If robots had near human intelligence and were designed to look like humans would people begin to fall in love with non living objects?

Its possible. Some people have a fetish for statues. happy
 Ive never done anything with a statue or any inanimate object but I could probably go for some kind of robot if it looked, felt, and could move like a real woman.laugh

Depends on who does the programming!  drinks laugh laugh

Well I realize Mirror meant this from a completely hypothetical standpoint but I think we are much further away from generating cybernetic organism either human or animal. I think its more likely that we will be cloning humans before we reach the level of technology required for something like that to exist.

If women robots are attractive a man will fall in love with it. If woman robot have big chest and curves a man will marry it.

I read the book many years ago.... probably early 1980's. It's very good but not as 'modern' as Blade Runner. It does deal more in depth with the themes of what being 'alive' really means. There are also some religious overtones that aren't in the movie. Truly amazing is how well the story holds up, even today. The author managed to write a futuristic novel that didn't get obsoleted 40 years later.

I don't think Decker turned out to be a replicant in the book. His partner starts to doubt his own 'humanity' but Decker tests him and he turns out to be human.

You know, it's been long enough... I think it's worth another read.

Yeah I always meant to read it and never did. I might have to see if I can find it used on Amazon. It was an excellent film. Very thought provoking. The idea that they could be "tricked" in a sense and actually given memories was a little bit unnerving. huh

I haven’t seen that. I remember the old Battlestar Galactica from when I was a kid. Here is a movie poster for "Westworld"

Most of the partners I've chosen in major relationships in my life have seemed like "statues" or "robots" in the background, while I went about the business of living my life and doing what needed to be done. It felt like that in my home with dad as a child, too. I have always been serious and super responsible. Its only as an adult that I started learning how to have fun and play.
