As I got in my truck this morning I heard on the news that one of the
victims of the Va. Tech massacre was from our neighboerhood.

Caitlin Hammaren graduated from my sons school in 2005 and was a
sophomore in the international studies program at Va. Tech.
In high school, She was an outstanding musician and president of the
chorus in her senior year. She was also a member of the National Honor
Society.

I didn't know Caitlin or her family but I see the pain in my community
and feel it in my heart. I Lost people in the attack upon the World
Trade Center on 9/11/01 and it pains me to see such tragedy hit home
again.

The only reason I posted this is to show my sympathy to Caitlins family
or to any of the JSH family that felt this tragedy personally.

God Bless Us all and never surrender to dispair...

BigGlenn-

I can tell you I understand it hitting close to home. I was raised in
Virginia Beach, VA, so I knew many people at VT. My mom called me while
I was out to tell me about the shooting and my entire body went numb,
and then I found out I had to just wait to see if any of them had been
hurt.

No one I knew there was killed, but I am still mourning for VT. My
friends have lost ones close to their heart and that alone makes me
upset. My friend there says you can be walking around the campus and see
someone you have never met and they will hug you, because the campus is
grieving as a whole.

VA Tech is a great communtiy. And as they say, Today, we are all Hokies.

Close to home...reminds me of the Red Lake school shootings in MN.

It does make me sick, now that I have a son I work so hard to keep safe
and love him...I feel horrible for the students parents.

This may sound odd, but I wonder if they are going to shrink. My sister
was murdered. She was in a coma for 5 days before they let her go.
Both of them visibly shrank from the loss of weight. They both looked
so small next to that big white bed and all those machines.
