Soooooooo Im dating this girl, and its kinda new, only been 3-4 weeks, but everytime I call her she never sounds happy to hear from me or anything, I always get this emotionally shut down tone, Ive asked her if she wanted space or wasnt happy with the relationship and she said she loves the relationship and does not want space, I also asked her why she never wants to have a conversation over the phone with me and she says "phones are too impersonal" I get that somewhat but I cant ALWAYS be there next to her just to have a convo, I beleive that if your a good couple you can spark up convo no matter what weather it be on the phone or in person.

Some people just hate telephones period she very well maybe telling the truth. I am a person that loves chatting voice whether it is the internet or phone. I like to hear the inflections a person does as well as their body language.
I dated a person that hated talking on the telephone so when ever I would call it was apparent that he wanted off the phone from the time the conversations started. I decided one day not to call him, till he called me. He finally did a bouta week later and asked what is up. I just politely told him I felt that I was bothering him and decided that I wouldn't be the one calling. He did start calling a bit more after that.

Sounds familiar. I don't necessarily think it is a bad thing. Some people just don't communicate well over the phone (i.e. they have trouble sounding upbeat, or expressing their feelings). At the beginning of the relationship did she ever sound "happy" to hear from you over the phone? I guess that could be an indicator.

However I do agree that a good couple should be able to spark up conversation whenever. I've dated girls that I really liked, but we never could find much in common to talk about. Just a thought.

yikes dating a couple of weeks and you are offering space, questioning relationship because she's not a phone person... yikes - dude sometimes we enjoy the quiet, chill.

good luck

Just let her call you. And stop making her reassure you that she's happy with you.

Well I didnt make her reassure anything, I really didnt even ask it like that, but when you talk to someone who doesnt sound at all happy you kinda have to ask something, and for the record I'll only ask it once, after that its adios if i keep getting the bad vibes. My main point basically though is if you like someone, and you both have a busy life and she has no car you cant always be together, so the next best thing is to have a nice little convo over the phone, and when you cant have that what do you really have?

The phone thing...
The developing a relationship...
The hands-tied-transportation-limit thing...
It could make a person nervous about letting too much emotional investment go into words without a concrete plan of how/when you two can spend some real time (daily?) just walking and talking and being able to relax with each other.

Wishing you well. drinker

I just went thru that in my relationship. Once it got to we're he's to busy actually talk to me on the phone and all we did was text, it just goes down hill from there.
I agree with you. Maybe you should re-think how much you want to stay with her.

I love talking on the phone as long as I have the time and the convo is flowing. It's those weird silences on the phone that make me wanna hang up laugh

I hate the phone...so I "get" what she is saying..

Try texting..."all the kids are doing it"

A little "thinking of you" in the middle of the day is a nice thing to see on your phone......

don't want to spark a gender debate..but supposedly women enjoy phone conversations more so than men..having said that..there seems to be a disconnect..
