Turn all the colors all the down till you get a black and white picture. Then slowly add color untill they turn out right. If you can't do this then yes there probably something wrong.

you could take it apart and mess with the wiring till the color comes back.. but it will only work for a little while.. Long story short you'll have to get a new t.v.

I refuse so periodically I have to go mess with the wiring, thought it was the kids.. but no.. just age.. sad buisness

yeah, I don't think I will mess with the wiring, I have bad luck. I'd kill myself.

How old is the tv, and what brand is it?

Best off to just sh!tcan it and buy a new one. WallyWorld has some pretty good deals on flatscreens. You're gonna need one anyway with the digital conversion coming up, so you might just as well go full-bore and be done with it. Then you don't have to mess with those stupid converter boxes, either.

Yeah, I was thinking about getting another one anyhow with some of the tax return I get. I just wasn't sure if I wanted a TV or a new couch. TV it is then. I really wanted a new couch though.sad

RCA isn't even RCA anymore. It's all Japanese now. I had a problem with a bookshelf stereo system I used ONCE, and they wouldn't even warranty it for me. They wanted me to "send it in". I told 'em to go piss up a rope. Took it to a repair guy here in town I've done a lot of business with, and he had it fixed and back to me in a day for $35.

Your kid might have gaussed the tube. If there's a de-gauss button in your TV (or if there's a button on your remote that will trigger the de-gauss function), press it a couple of times and it might clean things up.

Other than that, your set might be totally borked in some way. It might be the color guns, or the circuitry.

Oh my.....

That's sh*tty. You probably just missed the warranty too. sad2

You might want to try calling RCA and telling them about it. Maybe they can help you out with some tech support or something. The tv is too new to trash.

Yeah I may see if there is a repair shop around here first and call and see. If I can get it fixed cheaply I'd rather do that so I can buy my couch.bigsmile

Your TV repair man might have the tools to de-gauss your TV tube as well. Dunno how much that'll cost, though.

The GOOD news is that you can get LCD TVs for a pretty good price nowadays. Most of the newer ones are DTV-ready and have multiple connections for stuff like DVDs, surround sound amps, and other things. In fact, you might be better served getting a decent-quality LCD unit than trying to repair your current TV... if for nothing else than to save energy, as newer LCD TVs use considerably less power than tube TVs. And THAT translates to lower energy bills.

You wouldn't need any monster-sized LCD TVs, either as they're just WAY too expensive- something in and around the size of your original set would probably work fine.

I just bought a new 32" LCD the day after Thanksgiving at WallyWorld for $400.
