My company is already featured prominently on Google and Yahoo and well, any time you're on the internet, some other wazoo figures they'll get theirs too, and here's my most recent one.

So this site local dot com calls proposing that they feature my company for free for the first month (In yahoo google and others) , saying effectively that they'd be willing to feature my company for free for the first month, and it occurs to me that I'd be automatically agreeing to $49.95/month and it would automatically be charged to my phone bill and I'd have to call them to cancel. Remember early AOheLl days? Eventually, and after getting a clear answer from them about the billing procedure, I stated, "I do not want to be featured"... but bla bla bla... "I.... Do ... Not ... Want ... To ... BE ... FEATURED" in a firm voice. I think at this point they got the idea that they were pissing me off and politely got off the phone. Anyone else have other horror tales of solicitors?

I tried the firm voice deal but they kept talking over me so when I got real loud and said "Put your supervisor on the phone immediately!!!" they kind of got the message.

guess I am just rude and mean, I just simply say, "Sorry not interested, but thank you" and hang up. End of phone call.

OK...I'll admit it...I have been a telemarketer, on & off, since I was 16yrs old...go figure...my voice is so smooth, I can sell ice cubes to Eskimos...

We KNOW you despise us...we KNOW it's irritating...but there are easier ways to get off the phone & you don't have to be rude...

I just say (all in one breath) "Hey Baby, I'm a telemarketer, too & you KNOW we don't make a lot of money so thanks a lot, have a great day I know you'll get the next sale!" Then hang up. I have never been re-called by the same company & have never had anyone be rude to me.

I love to screw with the phone people. Go into this whole story about could they hold on, cause I gotta get the goats off the car....or just repeat everything they say about two or three seconds after they do....my favorite thing is to give the phone to my 5 year old nephew and let him talk to em

Has anyone ever gotten a US GOVT phone call?

I figgered they were the biggest solicitors around and didn't pick up.

Not anymore. And I rarely have a Solictor phone call.
When someone interupts my day with a Solicitous Phonecall, I begin by saying "I am on the National Do Not Call List. Do not ever call me again. If you do I will report you."
Believe it works very very well. And you know, I feel great having that kind of power over them. Now my days are much more pleasant not having those irritating interuptions.
