I am surprised as well not more being said about Houston here. Granted
I am in Montgomery in the sticks lol but i go to houston some to hang
out with friends.

Houston has the largest Chinatown in this country. Hope all of you can
visit it. It is also an interesting place to live.

That reminds me that Houston is probably the only city in the world
where Orientals get together at Latino places for salsa dancing. If you
haven't tried that you're missing out. If you can beat that, do it.
Anybody else here ever try Elvia's Cantina? Bring earplugs just in case.
That place can be LOUD!

there are lots of places to party in houston! even girls gone wild has
been down here! there are the downtown clubs - the atv parks, lots of
stuff to do!!

Art Car Weekend Schedule:

****Friday, May 11****

Main Street Drag 9 am - 2 pm
More than 70 art cars will visit more than 30,000 people who otherwise
may not be able to experience the parade, stopping at children's
hospitals, schools and community centers. Departs from the Houston Zoo.



Shop Talk 6 - 9 pm
Art Car film footage from unexpected sources and presentations from Art
Car Luminaries.



****Saturday, May 12****

PARADE DAY!
Many folks enjoy watching the show before the show - the cars start
lining up on Allen Parkway at 9am between Taft and Shepherd, and
everyone is welcome to come and see them, up close and personal.

VIPit Party opens at 11 am
Watch the parade, eat tasty food, sip cold beverages and sit in the
shade covered bleachers. The official VIPit Party of Art Car Weekend
offers the absolute best view of the Art Car Parade. Tickets are $125
per person. Art Car Angel packages start at $1,250. Ticket sales support
the presentation of the world's oldest and largest Art Car Parade.



20th Annual Houston Art Car Parade
- Shell starts us off at 1pm!
Parade starts at Taft, heads toward downtown on Allen Parkway, loops
around the Heritage Society at Bagby and comes back the other way.
Parking in downtown lots and wherever you can find it. View 250
embellished, augmented and jaw-dropping vehicles in the world's largest
and oldest Art Car Parade!




****Sunday, May 13****

Art Car Awards Ceremony at the
Orange Show Monument 11 am - 3 pm
Cash prizes totaling $10,000 are awarded in a dozen categories at the
Orange Show. Art Car artistists, neighbors, adventure seekers, and
families gather for a fun and festive block party.

I've only been to that thing once but I liked it. I have some friends
who enter cars in it. They are artists though. Right brain Left brain
thing. My idea of art is a well designed control system with lots of
transistors and microprocessors.
