that some people should not be allowed access to the internet?

I occasionally wonder how that could be accomplished without impinging on personal freedom.

I'm not sure if I think they shouldn't beable to access the internet, but I feel like there should be filters on who can post on what site.

What types of filters? How about a competency test to get you on to certain sites?

I'm on record as advocating some sort of basic literacy/competency requirement....I guess I've just read one (billion) too many posts about how hard it is to find a descent man with a sence of humor who isn't a total looser....

I think there are a lot of people who should not be allowed on the internet but not sure how you cn keep them off if they are determined to be on. What knocks me out is the folks in jail having access. Especially considering what some of them have done.

Those who can't handle someone elses differed opinions shouldn't have access to the Internet...

Just looking around Forums, most of the scraps start when some bighead states their opinion, then goes on a personal attack because someone disagrees with them...

I think that certain types of sites should have a basic competency test. A site like this should have, as Lex pointed out, certain literacy requirements as well as a test of basic social skills.

It really does!

I mean, I don't want to have to dig up some ancient Mesopotamian codebook just to be able to decipher someone's thoughts on why all men are pigs.

I welcome a lively discussion and have no problem admitting if I'm wrong. I also hate when debates on an issue turn into personal attacks. However, that is not the question here.

The issue here is any illiterate sociopath with a computer is free to roam the world of the internet with impunity.

Access to the internet...and screening tests?

Um...let's see...that might include me. Actually, it would include everyone that uses the internet.

Let's check your IQ.

Online IQ tests include requirements for cell phone numbers and mailing addresses [in order to furnish the results].
