Thomas, St. Louis has always had laws about how long you leave your car parked somewhere. It's quite annoying when someone parks in front of your house and doesn't move it for 3-4 days. Also, you don't know if the car was abandoned or stolen and dumped. Many cities have mandatory recycling now. I see it in some towns in IL and in St. Louis County. It's voluntary in St. Louis City. What's nuts about the city is that you have to pay to have the recycling removed. The county doesn't do that. I already recycle soda cans and newspapers. I have no problems with people being punished for driving while their license has been suspended. Tonight I just paid .06 cents for each paper bag at a grocery store. I'm going to re-use them. Winx people should be able to live their lives they way they want to.If someone don't want to recycle something that should be their own right.I don't need the government telling me I can't wash my car, can't work on my car espically in my own drive way.I don't need them saying I can't use dishwashing soap, can't use platic bags, and can't use stryofoam cups.It won't be long before the stupid government dictates every aspect of your life from what you eat,to what you drive,to how you work,to how you spend your free time. It's people like you who just go along with it instead of standing up against it that just gets us closer to a Communist nation. Thomas, People like me? If someone is driving with a suspended license and broke the law doing so, why shouldn't they be punished? It's called consequences. Why shouldn't I be bothered if someone's car sits in front of my house for days? That happens, btw, the car CAN be stolen or abandoned. Communist nation? Be serious now. It's not even close. Winx you can get your license suspended for a unpaid parking ticket and not even know about it.I hardly think it is fair to have your car impounded and auctioned off(despite if it is new or collectable)and have the government keep the money.I also think that people being charged the equivalent of thousands or even ten of thousands of dollars for one infraction is going to far. This law also bugs me because if you are caught with a DUI it is just a fine and a slap on the wrist.I think people should be punished for driving with a suspended license but this goes way too far. I totally disagree with you about cars sitting in the driveway or street for weeks or months on end.The main reason I disagree with you is I have had cars with problems where I didn't have the money and it might take me a month or two to save for it to get it fixed. If that car sits there for 6 months or more with out being moved then I can see your point.3 days and it getting towed no way! Winx I hope one day you can back up what you are saying in actions.I would like you to go up to a soldier from the war and tell him he shouldn't wash his car in his driveway or work on it.Tell him also that his car has been sitting in the same place for 3 days and you would like to have it towed. As far as you other posters giving me stupid comments such as...this guy dumped tons of garbage at my park, and that guy dumped oil in the ground and blah blah.It sounds dumb and it's a cop out. There are millions of mechanics out there who work on their cars and do it in a professional manner.I work on cars all the time and I don't dump the oil into the ground I take it to the parts store and they recycle it. Your all sounding like a bunch of puppets on strings to me.You whine and whine and complain about the government but not only do you want more of it,you speak against the very people who want government to butt out. I do think it's unfair for them to sell someone's car. I don't think a consequence is unfair, though. Tens of thousands of dollars is extreme to me. I didn't say anything about someone's car sitting in a driveway or in front of one's own house. I said in front of my house!! It is annoying when I own a house and have street parking and a car is sitting in front of my house for days. I have to park down the street and carry groceries up my steps and into my house over and over again. I think in my city you can't park over 4 or 5 days. Then you get a sticker plastered on it. They sticker it a few times before they tow it. It happens when someone calls about a car. |

So Thomas, we are using soldiers now to demonstrate how unfair things are? He goes to war 'voluntarily' and comes back and expects he should not have to obey the law? Interesting.
Should his neighbor have to inform him of impact to his own environment and family, by allowing toxins to run off his driveway? Actually it's not just the government that has to baby sit us but our neighbors have to as well? It might take you a few months to have your vehicle repaired, Thomas, but it doesn't not take a few months to get it towed to an appropriate place to avoid the fine. Don't like fines, then find another way to remove your car, it's pretty simple, but the fact is that people do not do the right thing, and are the reasons for the laws. These are the kind of lame excuses that forces governments to crack down or to make fines so ridiculous, sooner or later that fine is going to be so large people will have to pay attention. ''''As far as you other posters giving me stupid comments such as...this guy dumped tons of garbage at my park, and that guy dumped oil in the ground and blah blah.It sounds dumb and it's a cop out.'''' Because 'some' mechanics do the right thing does not mean they all do, fines and such come from repeated violations for the same damn things over and over and not just by professionals. If you think what I said was stupid and I am the one that said it, Thomas, then you are blissfully unaware of your own environment and those that do not do things the right way. If you want to be irate, then go after them, not the government that is forced to make people comply. I would be careful about calling other people puppets when you are whining yourself, that you can't follow the rules because you excuse sounds so much more reasonable and acceptable. Interesting, I am not rich and yet I seem to be able to avoid such fines an punishments by 'thinking' of alternatives to avoid the problem in the first place or to find another way to move my car. |
