28% - Republicans: Fewer, More Conservative
Pew

Wed Apr 8, 1:00 am ET

Among registered voters, 28% call themselves Republicans, a decline of five points since 2004 and only a point above a record low level of Republican self-identification in 16 years of polling by the Pew Research Center, found in March 2008. Nearly four-in-ten voters (38%) identify as Democrats and 34% self-identify as independents. These data are based on more than 28,000 interviews conducted during 2008 prior to the election. Among voters who now identify as Republican or Republican-leaning, roughly two-thirds (68%) identify themselves as conservative, and of the conservatives, three-quarters think the party should turn further to the right. While a majority of moderates and liberals within the party advocate a centrist approach (66%), they make up fewer than a third (31%) of Republican voters overall. As a result, 60% of all Republican voters support a more conservative direction for the party.

I wonder what the results would be, if you asked who considered themselves to be Constitutionalists.

Most don't understand what the constitution means, and I encourage conservatives to leave and start their own party if the repubs continue to follow the blind dems..

I've often thought that the Fiscal Conservatives and Libertarians should do their own thing, The NeoCons and the Social Conservatives are all flat crazy or seeking to rule others.

But then you'd have to watch the Globalists and their banking interests like hawks, because they'd be all over buying off those folks...or having them shot.

I don't belong to any political party nor will I ever. I have my own views and opinions. I don't need someone tryin to shove their's down my throat or tellin me I belong to this party so I need to vote for this canidate. I look at each canidate, their experience, their objectives and goals and then make my decision from there. If I can't decide which is the lesser evil then I simply don't vote in that particular race. I dont trust politicains any farther than I can pick 'em up an chunk 'em. Most of 'em are just as slick and sleazy as TV Evangelists. shades
