Yes, if one is never satisfied, and always "searching" for something bigger or better, they will and can never be truly happy. Time and experience makes one learn what they can achieve different levels of contentment with, and strive for higher happiness with what really matters.

Mark is right and whether you want to admit it so is Jess... Life is 5% what's thrown at us and 95% what we do when it gets on us... If you look at life as "everything always happens to you instead of for you" or "everyone else has it easier or better" well then you really haven't opened your eyes to see all of those that have it worse and still find a reason to smile.. Having a roof over your head is reason to smile, having a job is reason to smile, being smart enough to learn is reason to smile, affording clothes, food, going places is reason to smile... Most of all being alive is reason to smile.. If poor people, people in 3rd world countries can find reasons to smile the by God so can the rest of us... oh and lastly "whiners are annoying"... Mothere Teresa never whined, she just dealt with whatever conditions she had to and as long as she was helping people she was happy and felt that she was doing what she was supposed to do...

ok ok ok i think people lost track to what i was trying to bring up. First off appreciation of what you have does fall under the catagory of contention. I think Im trying to stress happiness in a sence that its like tunnel vision where it forces upon you a positive attitude without work and to those who achive this usually dont deserve it.

So what makes you more deserving than anyone else? I mean truly, no one DESERVES anything. You get what you earn. You get what you put out. If you run around being pissed off because you're not getting something you feel entitled to... that's kinda your fault. Just because someone is beautiful doesn't mean they are happy and been catered to their whole lives. Deserve means entitled. You're entitled to nothing in this world. And even when someone "deserves" something, it doesn't mean they get. Who are you to imply that "beautiful" people don't endure hardships in life? You make it seem like you're the only one that has gone thru hard times. So I ask you... what makes you anymore "deserving" than anyone else? Beauty doesn't decide happiness. YOU decide how happy you will or won't be. It seems to me you have chosen to be unhappy.

What makes you more deserving of the dinner you had today than a starving child that had to walk 10 miles just to get some fresh water? Doesn't that child DESERVE a decent meal too? Just because you think you deserve something, doesn't mean you'll get it. Seriously, pity parties aren't flattering.
