Just logged off IM with a friend, she said it was trying to load spyware/adware, her Windows online told her so and blocked it. No alerts from my end. Then the IM screen became an advert for Shell Oil Co. and I closed my IM window. I am running a "Spybot Search and Destroy" scan too.
What's up with the IM???

The advertisement window in IMs seems to close me out as well upon occassion. Its almost to the point where I use Yahoo Messenger or the like if at all possible.

I don't see anything on my Norton scan's. I do get the warning that it stopped an "intruder"?, worm, whatever though.

We're pretty sure that these are false positives from virus software, which tend to be a bit over-sensitive. If you don't accept any downloads from ads, you will be okay. If you are still uncomfortable with the situation, of course, then you can simply turn off the IM option.

As for the ad, if you are inactive for a while, it disconnects. The program then reads that and replaces everything with an add.
