Last Winter,
when the ice

made itself known in every sight
I tried to leave,
almost got away twice...
...you run like a man in fright
(I secretly think you're a practiced sprinter...)

It started in the Summer,
when the leaves
and your affection
began to grow large
I would leave at first light
heart racing, anticipated connection
Never did I see Winters' scars
so far away...but this is now
Now it's not all such a bummer

I don't know anything this Spring
when the nacent leaves
and your affections
completly mirror each other as opposites
I, as hope usually does, burn out the Light
in my goals, purpose without direction
Nothing here can be fixed
I waste away memories
of a hopeless fling.'

In a year that passed
In a state that wouldn't last
Do I retreat now from the human class?
