Ok

Here's the deal

I'm throwing a baby shower for my daughter in October. I'm planning now. It's gonna be a grand buffet. Champagne. Chocolate fountain. The works

Wanna collect appetizer recipies that are a little unusual. Something the ladies can ohh and ahh over.
Also any unique ideas for decorations or favors would be good

It's my time hosting a shower. I want it great!!!

I just made a fruit dip that is really really great!!

The usual one that I use is the creme cheese and marshmellow creme with a bit of red food coloring and cherry extract.

The one I just tried was honey with lime juice and poppy seeds in it!

I drizzled it over the cut up fruit and sprinkled some toasted almonds over it as well...

yummy!!

Maleah's Cheese ball

2 8oz. package(s) cream cheese (soften)

1 pkg of Esskay dried chipped beef (cut into thin, small strips)

1 bunch of scallions (cut the green parts into small pieces)

Combine all ingredients until mixed together, then round the mixture with your hands until you form a ball. Place the "ball" on a platter & chill until you are ready to use. You can serve it will any type of crackers. I use Triscuts, Wheat thins, Ritz, etc.. Serve on a nice platter with the white part of the scallions left whole (like a stick) for garnish.

I promise this cheese ball will not be something left over at the end of the day!

The good thing about this is you can make up the marinade ahead of time, cut the cheese up a day or so in advance (it needs 8 hours in fridge) and then on the day of the party you can just place it on serving dishes.
Marinated Cheese Appetizers
Ingredients
• 1/2 cup(s) olive oil
• 1/2 cup(s) white wine vinegar
• 3 tablespoon(s) (chopped fresh) parsley
• 3 tablespoon(s) (minced) green onions
• 1 teaspoon(s) sugar
• 3/4 teaspoon(s) (dried) basil
• 1/2 teaspoon(s) salt
• 1/2 teaspoon(s) pepper
• 3 clove(s) garlic, minced
• 1 jar(s) (2-oz.) pimiento, drained
• 1 block(s) (8-oz. sharp) Cheddar cheese
• 1 ounce(s) (8-oz. package) cream cheese
________________________________________
Directions
1. Combine first 10 ingredients in a jar, cover tightly and shake vigorously to combine. Set marinade aside.
2. Cut block of Cheddar cheese in half lengthwise. Cut crosswise into 1/4-inch-thick slices; set aside. Using a knife dipped in very hot water and wiped dry in between slices, cut the cream cheese into 1/4-inch-thick slices.
3. Arrange cheese slices alternately in a shallow baking dish, standing slices on edges. (I have put them into baggies and placed on cookie sheet in fridge.) Pour the marinade over the cheese slices. Cover and refrigerate for at least 8 hours.
4. Transfer cheese slices to a serving platter in the same alternating fashion, reserving marinade. Spoon marinade over cheese slices. Use cheese forks; serve with assorted crackers .

Tammy,
I have thousands of recipes for appetizers and many are very exotic. For example "Poblanos stuffed with Jerked pork, pineapple, and pumpkin seeds" (I am big jerk ... pork fan) This dish is yum but quite a bit of work (if you call stuffing peppers work) Poblanos may be hard to find in your neck of the woods and your guests may not eat peppers thinking they are hot, when they are actually not hot. If you could give some examples of types of appetizers i.e. spicy, cheesy, fruity, etc. I would be happy to dig some.

Here are a few examples:

Lobster-Papaya Quesadillas with Mango Cream

Duck Confit Empanadas with Wild Mushrooms, Golden Raisins, and Kalamata Olives

Fusion Creole Sea Scallops with Crab and Asparagus

Quail Stuffed with Cepes, Goat Cheese, and Sun Dried Tomatoes (I love goat cheese and sun dried tomatoes and this recipe can be easily adapted to use rolls of chicken breast!)

Grilled Lamb Chops with Tequila, Chiles, and Goat Cheese

Soft Asian Beef Tacos With Exotic Mushrooms

Thai Meatballw with Green Curry Sauce

Marinated Goat Cheese with Pepper Berries, Garlic, and Mint

Firecracker Shrimp

Etc.
