Help! I keep getting contacted on Yahoo IM by men who claim to have seen me on Mingle2, but when they give me their screen name it's either "no such user" or "user account deactivated". How are they getting my yahoo IM id from here? There's no record of them having viewed my profile and they never IM or message me here, only on yahoo. This happens a LOT. Has any one else had this happen? Is there anything I can do to stop it? Other than blocking them on yahoo and/or deleting my profile here? These guys are a litte weird--they are lying about being on this site, and they have one thing in common--all are terrible English speakers or the world's worst typists. They are either foreign (form Ghana maybe?) or illiterate hicks. How can I make them go away?

I don't remember giving it out to anybody, but maybe I have. You think it could be some kind of hackers who have hijacked my yahoo sn from here?

They are very likely scam artists from Nigeria. I was very close to getting roped into one of their scams when they posted pictures of beautiful women on Match.com, who used fourth grade grammar and ALWAYS looking for men 3' to 8'.... You can try to report it to Yahoo.

Yeah, I'm sure it's some kind of scam, because they are all lying about being one site. Another one just popped up this moment. I will check with Yahoo to see if they can help. that's a good suggestion

Do not accept them if they pop up...I had this done to me before too. Delete them or block them

I guess I must have--but I only would have given it to someone I was already talking to or IMing with on here. Could someone "steal" my yahoo sn out of an e-mail I sent to someone else?

If your screen name here is similar at all to your yahoo login, they could MAYBE figure it out. Maybe.

But since they are all bad typers (at least)...it seems for like you have some malware or spyware on your computer...or did at one time...and they got your user name from everything like that. Then they started contacting you from their palaces overseas.

If you have a yahoo profile someone could have hacked into that and gave your messenger to other people.

Are you using a similar username on both sites????
That often times makes it easier to pretend they know you from here.

I didn't think of the malware/spyware thing, but that must have something to do with it because my computer was infected recently. Thanks for the tip!

My question to you is the user name you have here is it the same as the one you use on yahoo my guess it is.

If so then all one has to do is add the @yahoo.com and wham they have your yahoo ID for e-mail or IM very easy to do.

Rule of thumb never use the same user name on any sites as you do with your personal e-mail or IM's.

Hope that helps.
