What is it?

(In the human organic sense)

Connection....being a part of this world....feeling present, and a participant...a contributor.

How do we find it?

By paying attention to the reactions and responses we have to different stimuli...when 'engaged' we FEEL a response...rather than just a thought....we feel affected.

And then acting on those responses...moving them from the emotional to the physical...by DOING.

How do we lose it?

By turning inwards....by focussing inwards, by becoming the 'centre of the Universe'.

By NOT being in the present moment.....to be a passive observor rather than a participant, creates the detachment....the disconnectedness.

What is the significance of it?

Connectedness, (a sense of participation) creates a sense of responsibility, of ownership, of accountability, it opens up the desire for empathy, for compassion, for the loving emotions to flow freely...it's a desire to be present....to do...to create....to BE HERE NOW.

In a more spiritual way....

Connectedness is all of the above...expanded outwards, past the organic world, into the ether, the cosmos, the 'out there', and still feel present, a participant, a part of the All.

Affection... that is what we are missing. I think, that is what will cure what ails, us all. Its not the connections we lack, its the ability to physically show someone that you are connected with them. We are physical beings... words are words... they can be taken the wrong way, too easily. But how do you mistake a hug as being rude or sarcastic? I think we have all become desensitized by words, especially in written form. Memories are much stronger when your senses become involved. Whether if its the way someone smells or smiles... those images "stick" with us. Words not so much.

Wow! Awesome! Well said. I was thinking empathy was the main thing we are missing, but affection brings a kind of empathy. (And welcome to mingle2, Th3Friend!)
