Late Sunday night an 18-year-old allegedly walked into Quotes Bar on Main Street and tried to rob it. But it turns out, several police officers from around the state were in the area for a function. And they were at the bar the alleged crook may have been trying to hold up. In surveillance video from Quotes Bar, you can see the off duty officers walk in and a few seconds later you see the suspect. The cops and the man exchange some words and then the suspected bad guy goes down. The other officers are quick to react. Joe Collins was the bartender on duty that night. "I had been making jokes for days and days before this about how stupid someone would have to be to try to rob a bar downtown during this pub crawl...because of all the off duties that are going to be down here. And sure enough it actually happens." Police say the alleged robber was 18-year-old Alonzo Rucker. He has been tentatively charged with disorderly conduct. Officers didn't find a weapon on him at the time of the incident. As for the bartender, Joe Collins, he says he feels like he should've been scared or at least shaken up. Instead he just thinks it's funny. |

Investigators later identified the man as 18-year-old Alonzo Rucker. He told police he had no intention of robbing the place, and was just wearing the bandana so people wouldn't recognize him.
