Yes, and her parents are who the children are with now and I think they
live in Ill.

Also the cops say shes in Iraq, The US Army says she was Honorably
Discharged 2 yrs ago, and she wasnt reactivated by them. They have no
knowledge of her being in Iraq. Evidently she went back on her own??
Something funny, I guess we will wait and see....

She did have family that she could have left them with..

I think the article I saw said she had only been in Iraq for 10 hours
when she got word that it had happened, she had been called up on May
12th or something to prepare to deploy, but was only there for 10 hours
when this happened.

Guess I am old fashioned but I wouldn't leave any child of mine with a
nonparent, would leave them with grandparents or aunts and uncles. Too
late for this baby, of course, and can't 2nd guess her thoughts.

According to O’Meara, Lavada Smith is serving in Iraq -- and on her way
home for the funeral. “If she hasn’t caught a flight, she’s working on
catching the next one,” O’Meara said.

Smith has been out of the Army for more than two years, according to
Army Maj. Jim Eldredge. After serving in Iraq in 2004 and 2005, she was
honorably discharged in February 2005 at Fort Bliss, Texas, Eldredge
said. He added the Army would have a record if Smith was called to duty
as a reservist or with the National Guard.
