When Modelle snuck out of Cleve-Land oh so many years ago, I was in search of a pro team. So, b/c I always liked Favre's throw back playing style, I started following the Packers.

Face it, when Holmgren left town the Packers were never the same & Favre had to deal with a less-talented offense to try to score with for too many years & that's when all of the Favre nay-sayers started.

Having said that I'm still a Favre fan. Call him blood & guts, like they did Patton, if you will, but there's no denying his tenacity & his thirst for winning.

BTW, my sons & I like to pronounce his last name, Fav-ray. The way it's spelled, dammit. I think it sounds better anyway.

Sort of like the "less-talented offense" that Aaron Rodgers inheirited? The one that accounted for 4000 passing yards?

Maybe they were "never the same," because no coach after Holmgren ever dared to try and hold King Favre accountable for all the poor interceptions he throws.

As I remember, Holmgren actually sat Favre down, during a game and stuck Mark Brunell in there, after Favre kept throwing pass after bad pass.

Childress tried that this year, and Favre spanked him and sent him back into his corner.

I'm sticking with my prediction: their season ends on a very bad Brett FaRVE interception.

Hehe.

I love quoting myself.

Not to gloat, but I wrote the above, back in November.

It's as if I had a crystal ball.

Or maybe it is just history, repeating itself.

One of the ESPN guys predicted Favre would announce his retirement, as Peyton Manning is leading a 4th quarter drive, during the SuperBowl.laugh

Well, guess I'm not the only one that thinks he's a bit of an attention whore.

I'm wondering if the Viking radio's play-by-play man will have a job, next year.

I just heard his call, on Favre's 4th quarter interception.

It went something like this:
"Favre just threw an interception. I can't believe it. Why would you even THINK about throwing it, in this situation? Why not just take a knee and try for a 56 yard field-goal? This isn't Detroit, this is a trip to the Super Bowl."

Obviously the guy just said what all Viking fans were thinking, but he is still a professional. Do you think he will be held responsible for losing his cool?

The Detroit Tigers got Al Kaline from announcing games on T.V., after he was continually critical of players, coaches and the organization, on the air-waves.
