BARLEY WITH ME AND I'LL DO MY BEST TO EXPLAIN,SO YOU CAN UNDERSTAND ME.[not very good with words]. I HAD A VIRUS ON MY COMPUTER AND A FRIEND'S SON FIXED IT,BUT HE ALSO CHANGED ALOT OF STUFF AROUND. HE PUT ALOT OF MUSIC ON HERE,THAT I WANTED TO PUT ON CD'S. THE THING IS THAT WHEN I TRY TO BURN THEM TO THE CD,IT DOESN'T WORK. I MAKE-UP A PLAYLIST AND IT SAY THAT IT IS BURNING IT ONTO THE CD,BUT IT WON'T PLAY IN ANY OF MY CD PLAYERS. HE PUT NERO SMARTSTART PROGRAM ON MY COMPUTER RECENT AND TOLD ME TO USE TO BURN MEDIA TO DISK,TO RIP CD TO HARD DRIVE USE WINDOWS MEDIN PLAYER.ALSO TO USE CD-R FOR MUSIC AND DVD-R FOR MOVIES.I DON'T DO MOVIES. BUT EVEN WHEN MY SON HELPED ME WITH THIS,IT SAID THAT IT WAS BURNING MUSIC TO DISK. BUT THE COMPUTER SAID THERE WAS NOTHING ON THE DISK.I JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND.DO YOU THINK YOU COULD EXPLAIN IT TO ME IN PLAIN WORDS,EVEN STEP BY STEP. I COULD DO IT BEFORE HE CHANGED IT.

Hi! I would help, but I am not a computer expert in any sense. There are a few though that really know their stuff! I think since it is Halloween and the weekend it will be hard, but afterwards you should get help.

Hi, From what I can understand you are trying to burn a CD of music using Nero and even if the process seems to be working once finished you cannot play the CD on any support and even in your computer it says the CD is empty. Did you try to burn anything else apart from Music to a CD, if you get the same result (seem to burn ok but once finish the cd empty) then it's either your Nero program or CD/DVD burner that are not working. Do not know what version of Nero you have but is it a trial version and if yes as your trial finished. If the full version then it should work. Try to burn anything using the Operating system built in CD burning engine or any other program (other then NERO) and if none of them work and you end up with the same results (CD-R empty after burning data to it) then I guess your CD/DVD burner is finish. |

What Operating system are you using? 2k, XP, Vista, 7? Is it a PC or a MAC? What brand of machine, home made? if its home made what kind of burner is it? if its name brand, is it a dell, or an HP? It sounds like you are burning the actual MP3 files to a cd.
What you need is to burn an Audio CD. If you are on a newer version of Nero, in the SmartStart Screen, go to Rip And Burn, then click the Burn Audio CD button. You'll have to select the music you want again, prebuilt playlists won't work. Nero does keep the order of the tracks on the CD, so if you put song 2 in before you put song 1 in, song 2 will be the first one on the cd. You can rearrange tracks in Nero by drag-n-dropping them. A couple of other things to know: A standard CD-R these days holds a maximum of 80 minutes of music. Many cd players have trouble with more than 74 minutes of music OR more than 18 tracks. This is VERY common on older cd players, and on many car CD players. So, to boil it down, keep the number of tracks to 18 or less, and the total minutes below 74. |
